As the hardcore Macross fans are already aware of from the tease trailer featured in the end of the Macross F 1st Movie, there were a second Macross F movie in the making. On the 15th of August, 2010, Bandai gave an official date that is posted above via their twitter account. ANN has done an article as it reads in the following:

The official Twitter account of Bandai Namco's Bandai Collectors division has confirmed on Sunday that the second Macross Frontier film, Macross Frontier ~Sayonara no Tsubasa~, will open in Japan on February 26, 2011. The announcement was made at Girasama Carnival, the summer Macross Frontier event which ran at the Pacifico Yokohama on Sunday.

Feel free to add to the information as they come out and I'll update the opening post accordingly.

The only times I'm usually able to go to Japan is December and July. I think I'm going to try and take some time off to go and watch this at the premier.

So, is this the final chapter in Macross? If so then I hope it's resolved with who Alto stays at the end. Some people were rather pleased what series presented, but it want to be clear, Sheryl or Ranka. =)

Would be amazing, though i'd prefer a new project. I mean it's the 30th anniversary, so we need something extra special.

A full-scale crossover would be something, wouldn't it? However, I highly doubt something like this would happen...

I to would prefer a new Macross Project for the 30th Anniversary. I justed fhinished watching Macross Zero and Macross Plus tonight, thought that Plus was brilliant and that Zero was rather weak and average. While wahcing Macross Zero I thought that the 3DCG of Zero look rather crap now compared to the CG of Macross Frontier.

Inregards to the 30th anniversary project which will hopefully get the go ahead, it's important to get a good music composer and director on board, and leave Kawomari to do the design work for the Valkyrie's. Would love to see an Macross OVA with 2 female pilots as the leads fighting over a fellow female pilot (yuri), for the love triangle. My thoughts regards the love triangle of Macross 30th Anniversary being a Yuri one is that I love the current Batwomen, and is a great comic book and they put the yuri or love between the females is rather interesting. Anybody else agree with me that the Macross 30th Anniversay project should be a Yuri love triangle among pilots?

I think we will be getting some hints at more Macross for a TV series or OVA at the end of the 2nd movie in the form of a tease trailer or something similar showed at the end of the 1st movie.

I'm with Shiroth...I'd rather see something completely new, with few-to-none old characters reappearing.

I doubt it...yes, 2012 is close, but not THAT close. While I'm sure they've been thinking about what to follow Frontier with, I can't believe much work has been done on it yet.
