My first Iwata was the Revolution gravity feed, costs about 60-70 bucks US
Second Iwata was the HP-C gravity feed, costs about 120-150 US
Most recent Iwata I picked up was the CM-C plus which costs 350-400 US
Check out www.dixieart.com for some airsoft prices. Keep in mind that the airbrush is only one component, you need an air supply via cans, compressor, tanks, etc.

dj898 2006-01-10 15:26

don't even bother cans...
just bite the bullet and get the compressor....

theOtherGuy 2006-01-10 15:29

Wow, those Iwata ones are definitely the ones I want...but....wow.. :(

viper 2006-01-10 16:17

I actually would recommend one of these:
http://bearair.com/prodinfo.asp?number=100114

Its a nice easy airbrush to use, fairly cheap, good qualitiy, and you get alot of bang for your buck. You can use any compressor as long as it has a pressure regulator. Hell I've picked up a nice 1/3 HP compressor with an airtank on sale at Home Depot for like $100.

Has anyone found the modeller or site for this Destiny? it's pretty freaking sweet... I wanna see more of this guy's work...

nightbringer360 2006-01-10 19:27

Who's Okinawa, do you mean Okawara?

I think that was from a Destiny buildgroup: http://j-mx.com/~kirarin/x42s/

Syn13 2006-01-11 00:49

Okay, I think I'll be buying a 1/100 HG priced ranged model and wondering which one has the greatest appeal in you opinion.
Reason why I say 1/100 HG is because most of the Seed stuff are around the price I'm looking at. I was thinking either Astray Red Frame, Duel or the Blitz, any other sugguestions are welcomed and it doesn't have to be C.E. base MS either but since I don't build many models anymore or as often, looking for something that seems great for it's package.

Edit: Oh yea, as to the Destiny custom posted in this thread, it seems that its the same guy who did the black and white "innocent starter" Freedom that was posted in the previous Gundam Model Discussion Thread.

Seems like he/she's working on a Strike Freedom now.

Demongod86 2006-01-11 01:33

This Freedom looks so damn sweet, that black/blue/gold Destiny was amazing, and this SF will just be

spidertron 2006-01-11 02:41

anyone know if the ZGMF-X20A freedom is out for SD version? i really wanna get the SD versiin of it, i know the other freedom has a SD version, but not sure bout this one. thankx

Syn13 2006-01-11 02:53

Pretty sure the S-Freedom and I-Justice are available:

pmajin 2006-01-11 02:54

Yea I've seen that black freedom before... didn't expect the modeller of that gundam to be the same as the custom destiny....

Also... regarding that black freedom... it's the 'innocent starter' version right? Is that actually a limited edition master grade kit designed like that? or did he mod the original master grade freedom into his 'innocent starter' kit.... if you go into his site and view his shots of the black/white freedom, there's a pic of freedom in it's normal colours, but the body was heavily modded... Is that body a limited edition MG or was it modded from original...

theOtherGuy 2006-01-11 03:29

Can someone explain to me the difference between: http://www.tisinc99.com/gd131664.html AND http://www.tisinc99.com/gd131891.html

I'm guessing they're the [Insert Color] Frame....but the red box is the Blue Frame?

If you went to his/her site, you'll see that in one of those photos, he/she did display Nana Mizuki's Innocent Starter single next to the 'innocent starter' freedom. So, we can say that the modeler of "Innocent Starter" freedom is a fan of Nana Mizuki /Mahou Shoujo Lyrical Nanoha. :heh:

Anyone around here modify their 1/60 V2 Gundam? Such as, add-on self made beam wings.

OtherGuy - they're just special edition versions of Blue Frame and Red Frame - Red Frame has gold instead of the red, blue has silver instead of the blue.

You're better off getting the normal Red Frame/Blue Frame.

Syn13 2006-01-11 18:58

Well I just finished the HG 1/100 Duel Gundam Assault Shroud under 2 hours and I am quite please on how it came out and surprised that its bigger than Strike-Freedom by appearence. Had to make a tough choice today and I think I made the right one, it was either the Duel, Strike(either one of the 3 packs), Force Impulse, Sword Impulse or the Blitz.
Only thing about the Duel are some of the armor joints/hinges, I'm afraid to open the missile cover on the shoulders and move the extra armor near the crotch because they feel flimsy.

Fafnir 2006-01-11 19:46

Should have gotten an astray, they have as much quality as an MG. But whatever, so long as you're happy.

Demongod86 2006-01-11 20:52

That chibi SF is just so cute.

Komataguri 2006-01-11 20:59

I just got my MS-06S Zaku II Char CUstom Master Grade in the mail today.

One of these days I have to take a pic and post all my completed models...I have 12 so far I think, not counting the Zaku II which needs to be taken out of the box still

They used the standard MG Freedom kit and modded it. There are no limited edition pre-modded gundam kits. >.>

^Wins!!
But I will always like Innocent Starter Freedom more :D
I like how the modeller added more gold paint into the Strike-Freedom and YES!! He/She kept the original railgun styling on the hips too instead of the ugly round ones~

portgas D ace 2006-01-13 18:41

i got some awesome pics of the zaku splendor thingy but i dont really know how to post it.... like i need to put it up to the internet

Sety 2006-01-13 18:48

Does anyone know how good this Special Edition MG Freedom is? Is it really worth the extra odd $50 they ask for it?

Dark Lord Zenigame 2006-01-13 19:00

The only difference is that it has metallic plating instead of the normal coloration. I wouldn't bother with it, but there are people who would...

Sety 2006-01-13 19:38

But wouldn't Enamel paints give that kind of effect? (Well its more glossy) Or does it give a different kind of look after painting?

portgas D ace 2006-01-13 19:52

its like all metallic... not glossy/shiny...

k the special coating MG freedom (along with the special coating HG Impulse) are both not worth your money... if you're building it just for collecting sure... but if you wanna make the model look good... good luck, cuz when you extract the pieces from the sprues (runners), the mark left behind on your piece will need to be filed/sanded off... and doing that would scratch the chrome (almost always.. unless you recoat your entire finished gundam with another layer of chrome...)

in short, there will be plenty of scratch marks on your model.

SNT1 2006-01-13 21:35

if you really want a cheap extra finish freedom, buy the normal MG and some metallic spray paints. :)

dj898 2006-01-14 04:50

had quick session of prime the armours and quick reassembly of zaku after primer...

time to pull out air brush tomorrow provided the weather is fine. :D

and I switched the base to bigger one - thanks IKEA - to give more room for the railway track behind the bridge...

Thanks, I was thinking it'd be that kind of finish. That saves me alot as I can easily grab a MG Freedom and spend the rest on paints. I have a thing about grabbing the highest quality models only....so I wasn't sure if there'd be a significant difference.

Orath 2006-01-14 10:10

thanks Syn13, i have been looking for this guy for some time. and the funny thing i had his website bookmarked, duh.
this guy "塔炎一真" have a nice sense of modding kits. bandai should really hire him to do clean ups on the designs.

Nesty 2006-01-14 12:49

it's coming along nicely dj, keep it up :)

DarkWarrior 2006-01-14 13:53

The Extra Finish version is a huge waste of money IMO. Sure the metallic finish looks nice, but the snip/cut marks stand out pretty badly. Bandai should've attached the plastic pieces below so it wouldn't stand out, like the MG Hyaku Shiki.

Dalong.net has pictures of the Extra Finish Freedom looks like.. it really isn't pretty.

The problem is they would have had to create a new mold in order to move the connectors to the back of the parts. We all know that Bandai likes to resell kits using the same mold whenever possible (PG Strike/Rouge, MG Strike/Rouge) so changing the molds for the Freedom and Impulse was just not happening. Shame too, I like the look of teh Freedom and probably would have bought it to replace my other MG Freedom.

Fafnir 2006-01-14 15:06

Yep, add that to the fact that Strike rouge shouldn't even be a PG, considering that it isn't very popular at all. Pathetic.

Dunno about that.. Strike Rouge is still on the top 30 MS list, while the original Strike is nowhere to be seen. Of course, this is the same list that has Strike Freedom as number 1. :heh:
