Guess That Anime Melody

I did this on another forum a while back with some success. The anime viewer base on that forum was somewhat limited though so I thought I might as well try a more popular anime dedicated forum and see how it works out.

CONCEPT

• The concept is rather simple and straightforward.
• Listen to the hint(s) and if you know what the song is post it in this thread.
• Just the name of the anime and the title of the song (or OP/ED #) is all you need to post.
• The winner will then private message me with the song to use for the next melody and we will continue in that fashion.
• Feel free to discuss any of the songs...

HINTS

• The first hint will be a short section from one of the verses.
• The second hint will likely be the entire first verse or section from the song.
• The third hint will be the chorus, or the most recognizable section of the song. If you are familiar with the song this will usually give it away.
• The fourth hint will be the melody played along side a karaoke or backing track.
• If no one guesses correctly by the forth hint the answer will be given and a new melody will be created by me.
• There will be a maximum of 1-2 days between hints, and a total of about a week allocated per melody to keep things running at a smooth pace.
• My various vocaloids will be doing all the singing of the different hints.

RULES

1. Only suggest anime opening or ending theme songs!
2. No instrumental pieces (even if they are OP or ED songs) or background music.
3. No insert songs. The song must be played at the beginning or ending of the anime to be fair game.
4. Try to avoid rap-like songs, or songs with a lot of speech (and not a clearly defined melody) as they are quite difficult to transcribe.
5. If you guessed a melody correctly recently hold off on the first few hints to give others a chance.
6. Limit wild guesses. Only guess if you are pretty sure you are correct to avoid spam.
7. Only Japanese songs please. My vocaloids don't like trying to sing in other languages.
8. If you reply with a youtube video please put it between spoiler tags to keep the thread tidy.

Guess That Anime Melody #001

Here is the first melody to get things started. For this one I will go ahead and post all the hints at once, but for future melodies they will be spaced over several days.

Too easy, since its one of my favorites way way back currently in my top 500 anime songs.

Yeah it is one of my favorites as well. Lovely song, not so lovely anime. :p

Anyhow, since you guessed this one correctly go ahead and PM me the name of a song to use for the next melody.

For future guesses just the anime name and title of the song will be sufficient.

If you do post a youtube video response try to put in in spoiler tags so the thread isn't filled with too many Youtube videos.

This sounds like it can be very interesting :) I'll try it out when there is a new melody up :heh:

Hints will be about once every 1-2 days depending on how many people are playing so everyone gets a chance. I will probably post hint #2 sometime tomorrow though since we are still in the introductory phases of this.

*On a side note I just noticed the tempo was at 120 instead of 108 like it should have been so I fixed that and re-upped the video. ~Sorry about that~ :uhoh:

This is great, the thread looks like fun. I have no clue what latest song is (I bet it's not that easy to guess since christinemarie has a high anime music IQ), guess I'll wait for the succeeding hints for more clues.

Hmm, a little tough without the voices.. But thats what makes it interesting :heh:

Yeah.., my vocaloids have a bit of a speech impediment as well which only adds to the difficulty. Anyhow, here is the rest of the first verse for hint #2; it probably wont help much if you don't already recognize the song though.

I wish I had an high IQ with anime music...... (I actaully have a hard time remembering....when it comes to music :heh:)
Yea.... it sounds familiar but I can't remember from what anime :upset: Now its stuck....
Also is there going to be a limit to our guesses?

As long as people don't start posting random guess after random guess there will be no limit to the guesses you can make.

Try to be at least ~90% sure you are correct though before guessing. ;)

Guess That Anime Melody #002

It doesn't look like anyone recognizes this song. It was from a slightly under-viewed, though highly rated, anime from last year though so that is somewhat understandable. The third hint has the second verse and the short refrain / mini-chorus. I went ahead and prepared another melody, in the likely case this one goes unanswered, that I will post if no one guesses hint 4.
