In 2025, Hibito has become an astronaut, and he's going to go to the moon. Mutta ended up following a more traditional career path with an auto development company. Maybe this is a rare opportunity for Mutta to once again chase his childhood dream and become an astronaut like his little brother!

Nominated for the 2nd and 3rd Manga Taisho Award and won the 56th Shogakukan Manga Award and 35th Kodansha Manga Award in the General Category.

Animation Production: A-1 Pictures
Broadcast Date: Spring 2012

As opposed to what I originally assumed, this shouldn't be airing on the Tuesday NTV timeslot since all signs are pointing towards an Aniplex production, which is fairly surprising. Might be one of noitaminA's future offerings after all...? Either way, I'm really excited for the adaptation, next spring is shaping up to be pretty damn promising (the amount of announcements this week has been overwhelming).

MisaoFan 2011-12-22 08:30

It seems like it will be aired on NoitaminA's slot.

A1-pictures is good news. Now I want to know who the staff is. Really loving the manga so far. Can't wait for the anime.

According to Moonphase Diary, Ayumu Watanabe is directing.

Confirmed by ANN

Well looks like he'll have his hands full this spring with this and mysterious girlfriend X

Haohmaru 2012-01-26 17:29

So is A-1 confirmed or what? I don't see it stated anywhere. Is the director any good? He's only done Doraemon movies..

It hasn't been formally confirmed - it's something I went ahead and posted due to the fact that a whois request on the official website gave the domain as registered by A-1 Pictures when it was first created, right after the anime announcement. It has changed by now, maybe so as to hide it? In any case, sorry if I've jumped the gun too fast. At the very least, this is definitely an Aniplex production.

Ah thanks for clarifying.

Wow this manga has won lots of awards.

It is due. I just read the first chapter, and it is amazing. I'm looking foward to this.

Just reading the premise made me look forward to this. Chasing after a forgotten, or lost, dream when someone reach the lowest point of his life does resonate with me a lot.

I really like what I've read of the manga and I've heard nothing, but good things about Ayumu Watanabe, so I'm definitely looking forward to this.

Believe me, this is explored sooo well in the manga. The main character is funny as hell too haha :D

The anime will start its run on April 1st at 7 am on NTV, which is to say in Beelzebub's current timeslot. lolwut? Well, it's not actually a bad timeslot, but the sudden switch in audiences is surprising to say the least. Besides, AFAIK Beelzebub was plagued with a low budget so I hope this doesn't show here... but I don't really expect this to happen.

Well, it's one of few seinen shows aired on daytime (beside AT-X titles).

This will probably be one of the best shows of the Spring. I have a question though: is YTV another station that is airing this because I saw a link for this on YTV's English version of its site.

Hoping that this will be a CR simulcasted series.

Katapan 2012-02-28 06:44

Whoa, hang on.

26 episodes are also confirmed for Hiiro no Kakera, and only 13 for Zetman. Thanks for reminding me of the English website, AbZeroNow.

Shiroth 2012-02-28 06:54

Year airing is quite a nice surprise. Just hope for a decent stream now.

leokiko 2012-02-28 11:23

Wow, year run = awesome.

Well, there are 16 volumes of manga material to cover.

Kirarakim 2012-02-28 14:37

I know he's always Sanji, but it's nice to see Hirata get more roles since playing Kotetsu, well at least it feels more than usual.

And yeah I'll be checking this one out for sure.
