I'm really hoping Ranka performs "Ai Oboete Imasuka" in the Miss Macross contest, now if she does will it be acappella, the original music or the new arranged version by Kanno we heard from Deculture.

I'm thinking she'll sing Aimo from the previous episode, and the ed of the broadcast version of 1. Have to wait for the subs to see

aside from the singing that i m not a fan at all it was a good eps.
alto is the typical hotblooded young ace that can kick some serious ass.
on the romance side the girls are "making their move". i hope that ranka will go heartbroken in the very end, i just can get to like this character :/

a little plus cathy is not happy with leon's behavior, i m glad, the guy was too queer to be up for anygood.

yeah, but I haven't meant "NEW" as brand new:), but "new within the frontier series"..... Looking forward for "do you remember love" [presented in deculture ending]

I wonder why that is that she changes body frames when micronized. Is there some science behind it or is it just a reason to have a Zentradi loli?

i tolerated one in Macross 7 dynamite, because macross 7 isn't a series to be taken seriously, but...but....but...frontier?!

im not watching this until subs come out....i've got initial disappointment about this...this....
i already want to murder the shouta for even being in this, i'll have to reserve judgement on the loli.

Genetic errors...really I think that's it if I remember correctly.

Well as I said last time, I had a feeling Kawamori was going out there on us again starting with the scene in the shelter. There's nothing to say that the character is going to be awful by default, but it certainly is another point towards the less serious as I mentioned the show was heading for. I've already decided to start taking this series less seriously then I have been and it looks like said expectation shift is about to be tested.

If Gundam 00's sidestory is able to get away with having a Cat-Loli Haro then I think Macross Frontier can have a loli Zentradi barring the obvious bizareness of her transformation. It looks every bit like the character is there to fill the fetish as no matter how I look at it, a Zentradi that turns into a loli when micronized doesn't make a whole lot of sense even if it's supposedly a genetic flaw of some kind (I don't think genetics work that way unless there's a pseudo-science explanation behind it in the shows universe). Millia never got younger when micronized and neither did any other Zentradi so it seems like it's a plot element regarding the process that has just been introduced out of the blue.

So basically there's only one choice here for me, either wait to see if it's explained and if it is then welcome the new character, but if it isn't there's going to be some problems here.

Lastly, Ranka has the neatest toys. I dig her backpack.

The science would likely be unexplainable. Just look at Max and Milia - if they ever make a cameo, I wouldn't be surprised if they looked just as young as in SDF Macross and Macross 7. The character designer probably left the answers to Anime Magic.

On a side note, what's with the comparison between Gundam (00) and Macross?

The funny thing is that her normal size is just crazy...almost as much as her smaller self :heh:

I think we all can agree that the hightlight of this episode was the preview.

It's like ohmygod Sheryl in the preview about time.

I kinda liked this episode. Introduction of new characters, Alto and Ranka going though their respective ordeals...

But yeah, the animation was really CRAPPY at some parts. The Miss Macross part of the episode, especially, was awfully hard to watch without going :uhoh:

Who did this get outsourced too? Some parts were horrible... At least the fight scenes were still top notch.



Was a pretty good episode, will rate 8 or 9 after watching subs. Next episode is star date with Sheryl so it looks like she will finally be getting more of the spotlight in next episodes.

The character designer jokingly said that aging was something that average people did and not something for genius's lol. I'm sure someone can dig up the exact quote.

No reason aside from it's Kaioshin, he's constantly comparing them. I'm eagerly awaiting him mentioning that the fanservice at the "beauty pageant" was not subtle like Gundam 00.
