How old are you? (V.3)

Well, here’s a brand new thread to post your age (or lie about it). The old thread had been started a few years ago and some of you may have crossed over into new age ranges. I also expanded the upper age ranges to be a bit more inclusive. If you posted in the other thread, feel free to re-post and/or re-vote here.

For anyone over the age of 20, please remember that you get a Senior discount on all your fan-subs and Senior preferential, up close parking at all AnimeSuki live events (walking must be tiring at that age).

I have set the poll to expire in 1 year. We'll restart a new thread on a yearly basis. Of course it probably won't be me. The crystal in the palm of my hand just started blinking red/black, so it looks like I'll have to become a runner soon if I want to continue helping out around here. Below is a screen capture of the previous poll results (from over the past 3 years).

N-joy!

Sounds like a good deal, but is it really? :uhoh:

Anyway, yeah, I voted again, and most of you are still children - relatively. ;)

Hellychan 2006-06-04 13:52

24 here! :D

I'll join the 25+ group next year :p but really, 24 or 25 that's almost the same for me ;)

Shiryuu 2006-06-04 14:50

2, but turning 3 in a couple of months. I might even start going to pre-\nursery school soon.

Ambience Blue 2006-06-04 14:54

Wow... Can't believe how quickly time flies by. I was 17 when I first registered on the ASuki forums, and I've already shifted up a demographic into 20...

Makes me feel old, not being a teen anymore ^^

Shi 2006-06-04 15:17

still getting 27 in oct...

Cz 2006-06-04 15:20

Ah, so Hellychan is <1 year younger than me. ^_^ And finally, I'm now older than 68% instead of 80% of the population: proof
Spoiler:

Muir Woods 2006-06-04 17:41

I have an idea, what if one coded the votes to be able to self-update itself every year? Where each vote are timestamped on the day of the vote, or better yet, date of one's birth if a member has divulged information about their birthday. Thus, come next year upon re-passing of the timestamp of a vote, the vote gets a +1 increase in its age, and automatically self shifts its vote to the next category if its age exceeds the current group. This would allow the thread to last through the...ahem, ages. But I suppose remaking the thread each year isn't that big of hassle.

My sentiments echo Ambience Blue's. Mentally though, I still feel like I'm 16 :p .

Komataguri 2006-06-04 18:02

I'm 22...I think.

SDM 2006-06-04 18:17

lets try this again

I am 17 but in about a month and a half I,ll be 18 ... I am almost old but I feel young when ready how old/young the people here are :D

Onizuka-GTO 2006-06-04 18:32

enuff said.

Ending 2006-06-04 18:38

23. Really. Why I'm not surprised that there aren't any 40+ members... Then again: guess those who are now among '20-24' -group will make that after a few years.

Urzu 7 2006-06-04 19:19

22 yrs. old here. : -p

There are a few of us out here. :) But the thread is new, and the rest of us venerable ojiisan types probably haven't seen it yet. For what it is worth, my profile does display my real age.

I hear ya, I registered like in 2002...till the server haxxoring, turning 22 this year, WHOAZ!!!! :o

OutPhase 2006-06-04 22:06

I'm 17 and it sucks to be a PIU fan at this age. I'd much rather be 21 because D&B's policy is bullcrap and I'm not waiting until the year 2010 so I can play at the only arcade within a walking distance from where I live. So I can see R-rated movies by myself now. Big whoopie-doo! That's great, but R-rated movies are starting to blend together to the point of which there is little to no difference between 90% of them. :(

Oh, well. At least being 17 is better than being anything less. I should count my lucky stars than I'm not 15 or something since I'd have to go through being called "a stupid little kid" again.

mantidor 2006-06-04 22:12

I havent jumped so Im in the same age group, but I see that we arent in second place anymore, very interesting.

...and those few of us who hit the 40+ range, you'll have the nearest parking spots and wheelchairs provided, right? :heh:

Well, as of this writing, there are now two of us brave enough to stand up (canes in hand) and be counted.

FWIW, My true age is also displayed. :)

Ya gotta make the poll results show which member picked what option Catgirls...

CXC 2006-06-04 22:44

Well I'm 16 but I act as if i'm 9 so who knows

No, that would be evil. Good to know that there are more senior members who visit this forum. :)

Itachikun 2006-06-04 23:04

Good call-- and I agree, I'm mentally in the 16-17 range ;P

Well, one of the good things about being a "senior" member is that it's nice to see that some things don't change (namely Manti's av and sig ^^)

it's nice! it really is!

Tzurial 2006-06-05 00:18

I've entered the next age group since the last poll! I can't believe I was 17 when I first joined animesuki..ah good times, I was a lot more chatty back then

wao 2006-06-05 03:47

Ah, looks like I've stayed in the same age range. I'll be turning 17 this month, that reminds me...
I wonder if the population of the forum changed greatly after the Big Crash at the end of last year. This place doesn't attract a HUGELY disproportionate amount of young people (13-17ish), it gets a healthy crowd of >20s, or so it seems. Maybe it's because of the kinds of threads I go to,...

This would require hacking the vB forum code, there's an easier way to achieve a similar effect.

Instead of the poll asking "How old are you", it would ask "What year were you born" and (for example) list the options

After 1996
1996 to 1992
1991 to 1987
1986 to 1982
1981 to 1977
1976 to 1972
1971 to 1967
1966 to 1962
1961 to 1957
Before 1957

I was thinking of creating such a poll when Catgirls beat me to it by creating this thread. Mind, I was only thinking about it :) Maybe next time we can do it this way (but there are some advantages with the currect setup over this).

Kamui4356 2006-06-05 05:52

I find it interesting how the numbers shifted up to a majority of 20-24. I wonder if it's new members in that age range, or if it just reflects existing members growing older.

As for me, I'm 26.

felix 2006-06-05 07:49

I'm currently 19 :) but voted 20 - 24 :p because I'll be 20 soon :D ...

I think it's better to create a new thread every year since it will display what age group is dominating the forum in that particular year... that and this setup is a lot easier to understand...

Seconded... public polls should only be used when nobody intends to hide they're vote...
