The announcment got leaked mid-December already. Glad it got confirmed. Tough, I'm a bit baffled as people either adore or hate the manga (I have not read it myself yet).
|
I didn't realize it was divisive; I read the first volume or so a while back and thought it was just kind of okay. Its yuri though so I'll watch.
|
Feels like we're in a new era for yuri adaptions :).
|
We're experiencing the golden age of Yuri.
|
oh, so this got adapted too. Will try watching.. but this is one of the yuri manga that I don't really like. So might drop after an episode or two.
|
What exactly about it is divisive? I own six translated volumes of this. It's quite good. Not saying it's Girl Friends level or Pulse level or Aoi Hana level, but quite good.
It's not quite golden age of adaptation yet, people. It's still pretty contained to high school and a lot of them either contain utter tameness or utter clown fiesta. When some titles with non-bland adult relationships like Pulse, Even Though We're Adults and Doughnuts Under A Crescent Moon get adapted, that's when I'd start considering saying golden age. Or if things in the lines of VNs like Hong Kong: A Summer's End 1986, the Flowers quartet, Night Cascades, Perfect Gold and Heart of the Woods accomplished get adapted. Things have gotten better but they can still go a long way. I'd call it a Bronze Age at this point. |

no one is interesting in character design, and no one has an interesting personality. Which is why I dropped early in the manga. Everything feels bland.
I like yuri, but this one is really boring. |
Amazon is showing the anime as airing in January 2024, saw it in their listing of the 7th translated manga volume being out in February 2024.

Delayed to April, they also changed the director:
Dynamic tag cannot be rendered. (PrintableThread) |
It seems Yokohama Animation Lab is currently taking on more projects than they could chew, almost as busy as MAPPA, Liden Films, JC Staff and OLM. And it's not even the first time a project made by them get a staff member change, Tsuyokute New Saga is currently being delayed ready to have a possibly radical change in staff.
|
In this case director resigned for health reasons (whatever it means) and intially Yokohama Animation Lab were only producing the anime, while the actual animation was handled by Cloud Hearts. Tру studios are probably related considering how much they collaborate. But in this case the change was probably forced later by production commitee.
Either director got sick because production was behind the schedule and they got themselves owerworked or directors health issues affected the production but it took some time for them to react. |

We have yuri! First episode was promising enough, though I didn't get far in the manga so I'll see if I fare better here. Picked up for now. Also its on HiDive and not Prime Video in the US.
|
I'm glad the show is confirmed to be yuri from the very beginning. That being said, I thought the first episode was quite dull and uninspired. Being yuri is the main thing saving it.
