I wouldn't want to bet against you, no. :heh: But would it be the tried-and-true RX-78-2, or would it be something like the RX-78-1 Prototype Gundam, which, I think, had never had a kit beside the FIX action figure(?), or the RX-78-3, which had its MG kit back in the mid 90's (with a rather limited edition PG kit since then)?

Meehlimo 2007-03-25 12:05

i say RX-78-6 mudrock thats a cool gundam.

Honey_and_Cleaver 2007-03-25 17:28

Bandai made 1/144 prototype Gundam years ago.
Heck~ they even had the gold plated promotional(?) kit... ^__^

Tak 2007-03-25 19:49

The MG Strike Noir is released on the 16th. Mine is on its way right now. Can't wait for the kit... and, just because I am crazy, I am gonna paint it white...

While a white Noir screams "Huh??!?!!?!11111" you've got the talent to make it look cool :D

In which, Dalong has his Strike Noir review up. Thing looks damb sweet panel lined :heh:

-Noir doesn't look too bad without it's pack...:heh:
-Dalong grouped the Strikey's together, which, surprisingly enough, with IWSP's darkish colors it actually looks well with the Noir Pack :heh:
-91 pts? It's not the RX-93 Hi-Nu :heh::heh:

I don't even think you need an MG Akatsuki at the moment.

As expected 1/100 kit does not have the versatility that an MG kit has. Still prefer MG over 1/100.

ha ha. Tak, it wouldnt be called NOIR anymore since NOIR = VERY BLACK. Do post a picture of it when you painted it white. :)

Just saw that, and have been waiting for Dalong's Inner Frame comparison. While the Noir does share parts with the Strike, it has ALOT of differences concerning the inner frame, and that even when based on the same frame, Noir is a bit taller than Strike :eyebrow:

And Dalong shows us that yes, the MG Aile Striker is compatible with the Strike Noir as expected.

DarkWarrior 2007-03-26 12:18

Oh wow, I wasn't expecting Dalong to give the Strike Noir a score that low.. especially since he gave the IWSP a 98.

And I really hope that the Noir is the last Strike based MG. I'm going to be pissed if Bandai gives us yet another Strike variant.

LoweGear 2007-03-26 13:18

Unfortunately... still, the Noir is an awesome kit, especially with all the markings.

For those who want to know, here's the rundown on Dalong's points on the Noir:

Quote:

Originally Posted by Plasticfrog @ Mechatalk

Some key points he mentions:

+ He likes the plastic color, and the color separation is excellent.

+ External detail is excellent.

+ Excellent wings. Bandai clearly paid a lot of attention to them.

+ Chow Yun Fat style.

= Specially-molded weapon hands are now included, SEED 1/100 style. While the grip strength isn't a problem anymore, the hands tend to break apart easily. Glue recommended.

= All the frames are actually new, tweaked version of MG Strike's mold, so it's not a total recycle job. But at the same time, while building the kit, he still felt like he was building yet another Strike, so it's just another variation kit. Nothing new.

- Torso's frame detail is lacking.

- It inherits all the mobility/poseability issues from MG Strike, meaning it's good (but not outstanding anymore) and it has the same weak ankles as MG Strike.

- The hip joints' range is also lacking.

- Due to these issues, you kinda need the stand to really make it look cool. So where is it, Bandai??

- The wing joints also show signs of loosening after a few movements.

- Not particularly loaded with weapons. That would have been forgiven IF IT HAD A STAND.

- # of parts / price ratio isn't great.

- Not that unique. It almost feels like a stop-gap measure on the way to MG #100.

The last two points lead me to believe that Dalong simply doesn't have any particular affection for Strike Noir as a mech and as a variation kit.

I mean, MG Hi-Nu has a much worse "# of parts / price ratio," yet he was willing to overlook it because 1. it was Hi-Nu and 2. it was a fresh new kit that tried many new things.

Why and whats wrong with Strike variants?

kct 2007-03-27 00:43

Well, some people feel that the Strike variants are getting in the way of other mobile suits that are waiting to be MG-fied in any way :3 .

Who cares, I am still waiting for time to get the IWSP (as I've been saying several times). The AoZ HGUCs will keep myself busy (on free time) at the moment :P .

aeriolewinters 2007-03-27 02:08

100 is a milestone Number, so I'm going to say that whatever they are going to MGfy is a UC MS.

LoweGear 2007-03-27 02:40

More MG Zaku II pics, with comparisons to older MG Zakus:

For the 4th Pic, the weapons go from MG Zaku II 2.0 (top), MG Zaku II FZ (middle), and MG Zaku II (bottom).

Hi

1/144 and 1/100 is the size difference. 1/100 is larger than 1/144. As for the parts and joints, I assume they are of no much difference. Though an 1/100 MG would make a real difference compared to a normal 1/100.

LoweGear 2007-03-27 12:15

The only sure thing is that the 1/100 is larger, since it really depends on what era you're trying to describe. Older 1/100's are just sized up versions of their 1/144 counterparts, and look mostly the same, but recently the division between 1/144's and 1/100's have been increasing, with each line growing ever more distant in terms of gimmicks, construction and design. There are some loose guidelines though:

- 1/100's are typically better designed than their 1/144 counterparts
- 1/100's typically have more features
- and 1/100's have better posability

In the end, it all depends on what size you want to work on, what model you want to get, and availability of the model.

Zleach 2007-03-27 12:26

thanks guys

now i think i have a clear understanding on what models to get

1/144 are small

1/100 are big

And lowegear, isn't it the last pic the Zaku II Ver 2.0 is on the right? That kneeling comparison is nice :) No wonder why they Ver 2'ed the Zaku :heh:

CE is currently the gundam series at hand. Its a no brainer it will get more attention than other universes.

As for people who are complaining about Strike variants getting in the way of other units...how about the current onsluaght of UC 2.0s and recolours?

The fact Bandai is going to push its 2.0 label for a while longer means we get more recoloured variations (albeit corrected and fixed kits)...and god help us all when Bandai starts the 2.0 GM line.

I honestly dont care which MS gets a MG, or from what universe...cuz if youre like me, you will enjoy building something and modding it to look nice, be its a MG Strike Freedom, or a MG Zaku 2.0.

I meant the weapons comparison pics, since it should be obvious for the Zaku II comparisons which is which, but the weapons are a different matter. Besides, I did say top, middle and bottom, not left, middle and right.

Yeah, since CE is hot right now, it would be nice if we actually got some more kits. So far it's been Freedom, Strike Freedom, Strike #1, Strike #2, Strike #3, and Strike #4. A real variety we have right now.

I'm still hoping for a MG Destiny, but that appears unlikely given the UC 2.0 thing and the 100th MG.

kct 2007-03-28 01:14

I would welcome a MG Impulse.

This would be interesting. Consider we'd have to cut him up into 3 parts, wouldn't that kill his poseability? :heh:

So let's have a MG Impulse with all packs, make it one Sword Blast Force!:heh:

If I were Bandai, I'd make a lasting impression on the 100th. Something to look back to, something to celebrate...something....like the RX-78 :heh:

Ok I think the RX-78 has been mentioned to death lol... :heh:

It wouldn't be surprising. I mean, it would be nice if Bandai actually asked Tomino if he wanted a hand in the 100th MG, considering it is a special moment and why not?

For once Tomino might actually be happy for the model kits :heh: :heh:

But, Bandai can slap us in the face with a MG Unicorn :heh:

/me hides

If Bandai did make a Turn A as a MG, it will be a good idea, since creating it will require methods that are never used before (hollow internals, anyone?). What is better than using one of the biggest radical designs for the BIG 100?

A Gundam Unicorn Ver. Ka is fine too, since some novel-only MSes do get a cult following (funny that most of them are Katoki designs, like the Sentinel gang).

"Gundam Unicorn ver. ka."....

the ver. ka. moniker is pointless since the Unicorn is already a Katoki design. That "ver. ka." bit applies only to MS Katoki redesigns.

kct 2007-03-29 00:17

Isn't the same tag was put on the Crossbone X-1 (even though it is originally a Katoki design)?

EDIT: My bad, it is design.

Deus EpS Machina 2007-03-29 01:06

heh, my mistake, seem it also applies to MS he redesigns even though its his...in which case the Crossbone X1 Ver. Ka has a few minor differences from the full cloth and the original lineart.
See dalong.
