Same here. I happen to love the first season too, so it's all good.

Shinbo and SHAFT have yet to disappoint me. And given how zany season 1 was, I can only imagine what season 2 will be like.

Personally Maria+Holic is one of the best manga to anime adaptations Shinbo x SHAFT have worked on, so to have a second season makes me very pleased. With the 17th volume being released next week, there's plenty of material for the series. Going by the amount of seasons and specials Hidamari Sketch and SZS have, it's about time a second season for this fantastic show was announced.

Even Dance?

This and Sket Dance are both directed by Akiyuki Shinbo and animated by Shaft to be scheduled next April.

Well, it certainly will be by SHAFT + Shinbo, but not other details are out yet as well as Sket Dance for that matter. Any source, or are you pulling this out of thin air as usual? :rolleyes:

I love Shaft, and a gag series like this one is definitely their forte. Call them a one trick pony if you want but Shaft is the best gag anime studio in all of Japan.

With that said, bring it on 2nd season ;)

Maria holic sales was about 4000, and I was surprised about it getting season with this poor result. My guess is that they had the second season already planned when the series aired (in other words, split 2-cour project which a lot of recent animes seem to be taking), but due to there lack of staff and sales, the second season was postponed indefinitely. However, since they are collecting money money money from Bakemono, Arakawa and Hidamari and stuffs, they decide not to cancel the sequel for the sake of fans.

Before bakemonogatari delays, shaft was known for sticking with their plan regardless of its outcome from sales, like natsu no arashi getting 2nd season. (when bakemonogatari was airing, they were working on too many project at once with extremely few staffs, so when they are making OP for certain japanese tv show, key frames are drawn by single staff.) That's one of the plus point that shaft deserves over other studios.
