Sasaki to Miyano

Technically this is not a BL series but a BL-themed comedy, but be that as it may:

I happened to read a few chapters of this mangaka’s “Butai Ni Sake!” because I was involved in HS drama, and found it to be pretty good. Had no idea it was the same author.

One of the few manga to anime adaptions that I'm actually up to date with the manga for.

Anyway this series is charming as all hell and I hope it gets a good staff to get the best out of the source material (It's both a REALLY slow burn and a partial 4-koma too).

Another work I'd look forward to seeing become an anime one day.

ANN did this adaptation no favors by headlining it as BL. Non-BL fans will dismiss it and BL fans will be disappointed. They issued a retraction but most people never read those.

Weird thing people are trying to say this is not a BL.
Even the author classify this as nichijou x BL x renai x yuujou

Either way, scheduled for 2022 airing.
Deen is the studio in charge.
Ishihira Shinji directing and brings Nakamura Yoshiko with him, which is bad news to me.

Cast is also reprising their roles from the drama cd, which is fine by me, since they were pretty good.

I have mixed feelings about this one. Mainly because I find Sasaki to be kind of a creeper.

Dynamic tag cannot be rendered. (PrintableThread)
ANN back to calling it BL. :heh:

Also coming out January 2022.

I thought the first few key arts looked kind of off, but thankfully the actual content looks good so far. Looking forward to this.

Personally I find it teeters the edge here without going the wrong way, but I could see how someone could feel differently.

Let’s put it this way - if Miyano were an actual girl rather than a slightly girlish boy, I don’t think most would hesitate to say Sasaki is pretty predatory.

I actually find Hirano to be the most interesting character. I almost wish it was the spin-off getting animated.

Reminds me of Horimiya :eyespin:.

Guardian Enzo 2021-09-14 16:48

You're not the first person I've heard say that, though it never struck me that way. I don't find Hori to be anywhere near as predatorial or creepy as Sasaki - she's just weird and neurotic.

shmaster 2021-09-14 21:09

I honestly think people are saying that only because Miyano also fas Miya in his name.

Having read the full series so far, I've made the same connection myself as well. It's hard to really explain though, but both series kind of have the same relaxed vibe, I guess? Though I do think Horimya is better.

I can't help but wonder if some people in this thread are thinking of a different series. Sasaki is creepy? BL fans will be "disappointed" by a series that involves explicit romance between two boys?

Very strange.
