Was this the big announcement they were supposed to make? If so, talk about a disappointment...

^do you guys remember Overlord? i mean both series are under same bunko, and even same producer.

Actually, big announcmernt was planned for January 8th after ep. 2 re-airing so I am somehow confused now.

Looking at the recent trend (see: Attack on Titan, Code Geass and Overlord), a "compilation movie(s)" is almost guaranteed to be followed by a new anime TV series season. From that perspective this might actually be better news than a normal movie.

Saga of Tanya the Evil Film Will Be New Sequel to TV Anime:

"The February issue of Kadokawa's Newtype magazine is reporting on Wednesday that
the upcoming anime film based on Carlo Zen and Shinobu Shinotsuki's Saga of Tanya
the Evil (Yōjo Senki) novel series will be an brand-new work (as opposed to a
compilation or recap film). In addition, director Yutaka Uemura told the magazine that
the new film will follow from the events of the television anime. He noted that the movie
will depict the change in relationship between Tanya and the top brass, as well as the
development of her troops."

The possibility of a proper 2nd anime TV series season just plummeted considerably.

At least keep the original LN/manga designs...

I know it's Carlo-sensei's request but this horrid design is so... Imagine you watch it on an IMAX screen, man...

Saga of Tanya the Evil Sequel Film Reveals Teaser Video, Visual:

"The official website for the anime adaptation of Carlo Zen and Shinobu Shinotsuki's
Saga of Tanya the Evil (Yōjo Senki) novel series revealed a teaser video and teaser
visual drawn by Shinotsuki for the upcoming anime film on Tuesday.

The website also began streaming a television commercial for the original novel series.
The commercial features clips from the anime. The ninth volume of the original novels
will ship on Friday."

I am surprised no one posted it yet, so here it is:

The movie is out.

Basically 100 minutes or so of Tanya shitting all over communists. Maybe this is something I've forgotten from the show, but I was surprised the movie started with a 40 years flashforward telling us the Empire lost the war. There are enough differences between the setting of the show and our world for me to think it perhaps wouldn't end the same way.

The animation wasn't particularly good for a movie. I enjoyed Tanya's fight against Mary Sue though.

Tanya is a workaholic. Everything she does is to get more work! :D

Aoi Yuuki is top-tier as usual.

Haruka Tomatsu as Mary Sue was also really good.

For someone from eastern Europe seeing so much cliches about Soviet Union was a bit to cringy.

And yes, production was on a level of good series, bnot the movie.

But it was great overall, especially the final action. I really hope for the S2.

Whenever she yells out "Fire" the sound effects after sounds so damn cool

I wonder when we will have more... the infantry division at the end had their image obscured. I guess new characters to be introduced.

Will their be a follow up to the story, now that shes promoted?
