Satisfactory end. Can't comment much without subs since it was very heavy on the dialogue, but basically they (Yuri, Kanade, Naoi, Hinata, Otonashi) held their own graduation ceremony (including practice sessions), and in the end everyone essentially passes on. Also, they actually reversed the ED this time.
Oh, and I don't really want to spoil the ep, so just have this one shot and the ED pic: http://i307.photobucket.com/albums/n...7487375275.jpg http://i307.photobucket.com/albums/n...7488270610.jpg |
Question. Do we have Kanade past flashbacks?
If answer is negative, I´m dissapointed and I hope it is present then in the special DVD episode. |

This episode was kind of disappointing. I honestly didn't feel satisfied by the ending, especially since some important things were left out. That being said, there were some touching moments. One in particular caught me off-guard, but it wasn't enough to make up for what I felt to be several missed opportunities.
Despite that, I still like this series. But I think that there should be a remake that has more than 13 episodes and fleshes out the plot more thoroughly. |
The ending had a nice touch, but it certainly didn't cover all the missing plot portions and the like (backstory of many characters, notably odd balls like Shiina and TK for instance).
But I guess this was the least "problematic" presentation they could have done, with only 1 episode. I must say that the plot twist regarding Kanade wasn't that surprising (I was actually speculating that, except I didn't expect Kanade among all characters to be that person, still), but it certainly ties with a lot of things (far fetched assumption, but perhaps that also explain why Kanade stabbed Yuzuru). For all it is worth, I'm not really buying the "romance" between Kanade and Yuzuru considering how the attachment was pretty ambigous, and not really romance driven (the only "obvious" portion of that was Yuzuru blushing when he invited Kanade for the fishing party, and that's not really convincing if you ask me), but it still has some bases for it. That being said, the farewell scene was well done (albeit the fate of Yuzuru could have gone extremely wrong => similar to the programmer, I guess), and the post ending sequence sort of clear things (thank goodness the coma / matrix theory was pretty much nullified with that). This series really needed more time to flesh everyone out. That or a VN format (I would rather have the latter but heh). And no, I don't think removing all the comedy would have done any good: it would dramatically turn the franchise into a very gloomy and not so empathic environment for the characters. That wouldn't allow more development for the cast either so to speak. |
As I feared, everyone else disappeared off-screen -_-... I was really disappointed. Hinata adds that Takamatsu went back to normal and also moved on with the others.
The whole graduation ceremony was pretty awkward, and a bit too long for my taste. I loved the last scene with Kanade and Otonashi's confession though. Quote:

(゚Д゚).........................
Ummm.... Hah? Umm, wait, umm.................................... Urr................. That was... just horrible. The past few episodes had problems, but I hoped the last episode would make up for it. THIS is what I got. Wow... 1. Lots of characters disappear of-screen. A lot of the characters... had a point in even existing in this anime? 2. Kanade's character went off in the A-part 3. Otonashi must be the scum of scum, huh? :heh: Otonashi in this episode: Okay, I'm staying here to help everyone pass on --> Let's do a graduation ceremony --> Decides to stay all of a sudden, wherever this development came from --> I love you, Kanade --> Stay with me in this world! --> Crap, she dumped me --> She disappeared... --> Oh well, guess I will disappear too --> Wait for me, Kanade~~~ ---> And so, Otonashi gets arrested for hitting on a loli in the next world, the end. Let's all disappear together --> I'm staying, stay with me Kanade. *clap* *clap* *clap* What a man... 4. It was hilarious enough when the last development with Otonashi asking Kanade to stay occurred, but it finished me off with his arms' movements after she disappeared. Definitely a gag, right? No? 5. Kanade received his heart? How did she get to this world first?! Oi, Dialga! Quite sleeping! |
