Nightengale is just way too big to not have an insane price. I don't think Bandai will make it, way to expensive.

^and even that is the epitome of fugly among large MSes, Nightengale is much hawter, and a 12-15000 yen price tage wouldnt be too bad, I think.

By the way, that's my biggest issue right now, should I get ZZ or Full Armor ZZ?? (knowing that if I buy one, I won't have enough money to buy the other) Looks like FA doesn't have much mobility though...

SNT1 2007-01-13 16:13

Oh, you dont have to pose the Full Armor ZZ into something fancy to make it worthwhile. The FAZZ just standing there already looks badass.

Id say get the FAZZ. For the amount of plastic and gimmicks you get, you get more than you will for the ZZ for the money.

Does anyone know a site that showcases Gundam models that people have built?

BUT THINK OF THE SHIPPING!

Still, I have doubts. Unless they pull what they did with Hi-nu....

But then again, I much perfer the design of the Sazabi over the Nightengale.

Thanks, but do you know any sites that are in English where I can search for galleries of a particular Gundam model?

Deus EpS Machina 2007-01-13 22:22

@Expendable Guncannon: dalong has an English menu list as well. Though the rest of the site stays in Korean. Either way, the pics tell all the information you need to decide.

Also...a question.

When the MG Hi-Nu was announced i was looking to get a Hi-Nu coversion kit from the many garage kit makers. Then Bandai made its announcment and i put that off. But seeing the prototype pics of Hi-Nu, im thinking i may want to keep my garage kit options open.

Anyways, i asked around and someone told me the resin is hard to work with, the one that coem with the garage kits. Anyone have a tutorial or any info on prep and just what exactly goes into making these? Cuz im sure its not as easy as getting the parts, priming, painting and attaching. I ask cuz there are actually a few conversion kits iv been looking at as of late (Hi-Nu, Ex-S, and GP01...all from Core-works).

GameraBaenre 2007-01-14 03:41

Here are a few progress pages I did for the couple of resin conversion kits I've built:
http://www.gamerabaenre.com/hazel_prog.htm <-- 1/100 Hazel Conversion
http://www.gamerabaenre.com/cw_sazabi_prog.htm <-- Core Works Sazabi
http://www.gamerabaenre.com/hinuconversion.htm <-- B-Club Hi Nu Conversion (a bit of an older progress)

Resin kits are not hard to build. They just require attention to detail and patience. Resin is softer than Bandai plastic which makes it easy to sand, but also easy to over sand.
Steps to build a resin kit:
1: Test fit, make sure all the parts fit correctly
2: Pinning
3: Sand and clean up the parts
4: Soak the parts in an industrial cleaner to remove mold release (if you ski this step, paint does not stick to the surface of the resin)
5: Prime the kit (allows paint to stick much better to the kit, and you can see if you missed any sanding defects)
6: Check for defects, fix defects and reprime
7: Paint

- Just a note: The "Skull" designs on the Ver Ka. are realistic-looking, while the ones on the Full Cloth version are more "cartoony" in appearance. Personally I like the Ver Ka skull designs better. But damn, the Full Cloth will be pushing my budget.

I'm hoping that they release an MG Gundam Mark V. They already have two of the sentinel gundams (S Gundam, and Ex-S Gundam), but they haven't come out with anything else for the series, so I think that a Mark V would be appropriate. I also think that an MG Turn A gundam wouldnt be out of the question either :)

dj898 2007-01-14 19:40

given the failure of sentinel line ups I don't expect any other sentinel kit from Bandai for a very long time, especially for MG line ups...

kct 2007-01-14 21:34

I beg to differ about the 'failure' of the Sentinel kits.

Wave: Expected. It's something FROM A MANGA anyway >.> .

Thanks a lot. That info did help quite a it, and i found some info of another in-progress kit on fichtenfoo. I think ill be doing the Ex-S Conversion this summer...seems easiest of the three.

elaborate on that? None of those kits were exactly 'failures' afaik

dj898 2007-01-14 22:25

what I meant was as far as Bandai Japan is concerned those sentinel line up didn't make enough money to warrant its plan/development cost - mind you developing new MG kit is rather expensive than HG or HGUC... And all future plan for sentinel line up were dropped. from what I heard few guys who headed that project also got pushed aside and no word of sentinel is ever mentioned in Bandai Japan since... ^__^

Bandai is in it for the money and if a particular line up does not make enough money or at least exceed its own projection that line up is considered to be a failure. As far as Bandai Japan is concerned most of Seed line ups are not such great performer either... You have to wonder why there are so many UC line ups in Master Grade series compared to other non-UC series...

I don't think there's single site that list but you can always check out number of active gunpla modelling sites and look for completed model galleries... ^__^

DarkWarrior 2007-01-14 22:31

I don't think that Bandai releases the exact sales figures for each model kit to the public, so it's pretty hard, if not impossible, to judge how well a kit does. Unless you work for Bandai of course and have access to those sales figures.

And while the Crossbone Full Cloth looks nice, I'm going to hold off on buying it. The Hi-Nu certainly looks disappointing, but I'm still waiting to see the final product before making a decision. And with the MG Destiny (hopefully) and the 100th MG coming up, my budget is going to be extremely tight.

This is rather old news but the people who steered the Sentinel project did get pushed aside and at that time after the rumour mill it was agreed that it was due to the failure of Sentinel line up. And all planned/hinted Sentinel line ups were also cancelled subsequently...

Saying that I'd love to see other entinel line up from MG series.
I'd love to see Nero in 1/100 MG for example...

DarkWarrior 2007-01-14 22:57

I'm not familiar with Sentinel, so I can't really comment on what happened with the Sentinel Project. However I would prefer Bandai focusing on TV series that have been ignored so far (Victory, Turn A, X) rather than giving more MGs to a photo novel. I still don't understand why G Gundam got 4 MGs.. Bandai moves in mysterious ways I guess.

kct 2007-01-14 23:11

Of course, there is this concern about Katoki being a design whore (knowing how many things he have designed), not to mention that Bandai's Gundam division might be losing fans to 'certain designs by another sub-company'.

Of course, we can't blame the Sentinel series if any failure happened. It's level of exposure here isn't like back then.
