The V fins on its forehead? I would be afraid to transform it into its MA mode if that's the case, to tell you the truth. :) It might be too easily breakable even at the 1/100 scale. From the photo, the head's V fins look a bit big to fold up cleanly as well, IMHO.

It looks really good, though, and the color seems to be a darker red, which I like better, than that for the 1/144 HG version.

To me and looking at the photo, its upper arms is slightly too thin relative to the shoulders, forearms and legs, which look like they are carrying a substantial amount of armor - almost a Popeye look. The face is a bit thin and overpowered by the parts at the sides of the head, and with these vents(?), the head kind of reminds me of a chipmunk with two walnuts stuffed in its cheeks. :heh: The head doesn't look entirely proportionate to the body either, but it could just be from the angle of the photo; looking at some of the models that I have also, they have pretty small heads as well.

Again, it could also be the angle at which the photo was taken, but the ring and body look like they're being displayed separately?

Opinions naturally.

It's an X42S conversion kit to the MG Freedom, I think.

theOtherGuy 2006-08-20 02:38

Thats what we need in a 1/100 scale for SEED...a Murasame.

theOtherGuy 2006-08-20 19:11

All the mass productions need some 1/100 treatment.

Nesty 2006-08-20 22:47

ok small WIP in a while
been busy finishing off other models but finally did some base painting on the frame to cover up the mess I made before - guess time for washing after I put on some future

main point of modification were upgrade on the exposed left leg frame with working cylinder gimmick at the middle and lower section plus the chest hatch to be open all the way down... and replaced the head with optional mechanical head. I do have the helmet modified to be dropped on it though not yet decided on that idea...

very nice :)

theOtherGuy 2006-08-21 22:24

Aww, poor Zaku. I love the leg though, it looks so friggin good.

dj898 2006-08-21 23:09

cheers
I may put on some inner armour frame on that leg - basically frame structure in the shape of outer armour... partially broken of coz

McChar 2006-08-21 23:16

awesome, dj898

dj898 2006-08-21 23:19

And here's 3rd Zaku kit I'm working on. Yep I'm currently doing three MG Zaku kits - one being MG Zaku I that I will make into Zakulabour complete with MS size shovel and nail gun, and the above battle damaged MG Zaku II. The 3rd one being MG Zaku II F2 in Panzer style below. ^ ^

-----
This is one of MG Zaku F2 kit that I started modifying as part of my Dodai II project. It's been in the box for a while now after rush to finish to meet the dead line but I wasn't really happy with the end result as I left things out a lot.

As such while I'm working on my Zakulabour project I pulled this one out and started to fix and change few places... it was painted in kind of Panzer style - well kind of - but not sure it's actually correct as I'm not that familiar with military modelling myself.

Anyway, in case you haven't noticed the major point of modification with this one was putting double ball joint in the middle so it can bent forward - think of staning up and bend forward to grab the rain in front of you at the height of your hip. It's very rough patch job though as I used epoxy putty to hold the sockets in place... other than that the rest are the detailing up like the extra flap on the spike shoulder armour an brush of thinned putty on the armour to get the rough texture and etc.

Machine gun is the optional not for sale 1/100 Zaku machine gun where you can take the magazine off just like PG Zaku machine gun...

and in case you missed I've updated my 1/100 Powered GM posting with few more comment. Go and have a read. ^ ^

Niiice damage effects on the down Zaku II, dj898. :D

By the way mate, are there any good Australian or international model online stores to purchase and order Gundams from? Most of the stores in Sydney are pretty expensive to the degree that it is usually cheaper to buy online! Going to these stores is having a severe impact on my wallet and it wouldn't be until next year that I can go travelling again! Haha, all I need is a credit card and a good loooad of cash. :D I'm particularly looking for a good priced PG kits and UC MG goodness that doesn't rape me in shipping. I've checked out some online stores like Hobby Link Japan, Rainbow Ten (haha, i haven't checked their shipping costs though-- gotta study!), Mech-a and Best1Hobby but I haven't had a chance to thoroughly look through most of them. Got recommendations to share? :heh:

Random note: I wanna get the three Balls!! :D

dj898 2006-08-22 09:13

not really... i have two Hobbyco near my house I usually check every weekend in case they some with sales sticker. Missed MG GM Quel I was after though recently. They had the price marked down but by the time I returned it's gone. :( Would've been perfect for my 1/100 Hazel Custom conversion kit

other than that try eBay. I bought a dozen few years back that I still use for building kits - many of my kits are from those stock to be honest... I even have PG RX-78-2 that I bought back in 2004 I still keeping and now I have my 2nd G-System Gundam Ver. Ka conversion kit for PG Gundam.
