Kiddy Girl-And (Kiddy Grade 2)

The director of the original Kiddy Grade, Goto Keiji, annoced on his blog that the sequel of Kiddy Grade, code name K-G.2, is underway.

My thoughts-
But then again, they are just planning it, the project may get canned later on (ala Stellvia of the Universe 2

I always meant to finish watching the first one. I liked it but I didn't "throw down lots of money" like it. and the only rental store which stocks anime only has, you guessed it, the same amount I've seen.

They never get in full series. They're like that with acted shows too. They've got, like, 3 random volumes of a box set. I think it's 1 4 and 5 of most titles.

I watched the original Kiddy Grade. It's... I don't know how they can make a sequel of the original given how well it closes the drama of the series.

physics223 2006-10-21 19:21

A lot of people were discontented with the ending of that series. I haven't watched it for that reason ... so with the beginning of another season, at least I can expect proper closure - and begin to watch the series. :D

I watched the original one and got really into it at about ep 7 or so...but then I stopped due to various reasons and never got around to watching the last 2 eps. I've always meant to go back and finish it off... :heh: The news of a second series just might be enough motivation for me to do it... ;p

The Kiddy Grade universe had potential; potential that was completely wasted by bad characterisation. Other than parts of episode 9 and the whole of episode 10, I just couldn't bring myself to care about anything else. There is no point creating an adventure if no attempt are made to make me care about them. The greatest deathtraps are pointless if I don't mind if the victim lives or not.

Who knows; the sequel might fix that.

The first series is quite nice. The animation quality for the 1st series is also great. Anyone know when might it release?

mangatron 2006-10-23 12:59

I liked Kiddy Grade. I think the transforming ship was a nice touch. But, I do wonder how can you continue something that was, to me, good enough for a ending?

Well, maybe it wasn't a satisfactory ending, but I just wonder....

Well, you can always go the route Gatekeepers went, a sequel that totally destroys every hope you lived with in the first series :heh: :heh: :uhoh:

j/k, j/k :heh:

Forbin 2006-10-23 16:38

Lol mangatron!
I prefer to forget that Gatekeepers ever had an OVA.

I didn't think they would create season either, for the same reason you've mentioned. The last 3 episodes weren't as exciting as the first 21, but I was content with the ending. Overall, I like the series... one of my favorites. Now, I can again expect to see Eclaire fan service and Lumierre etiquette. Also, Hirano Aya is back as the seiyuu for Lumierre. Anything with Hirano Aya I'll watch.

Should've done Gemini Knives first..

Oh Well, I loved Kiddy Grade so I will like the second one.

If they don't start the love interest thing like forcing boyfriends on my fav girls...

Cyz 2006-10-26 08:32

Kiddy Grade was the first DVD anime series I ever finished. I really like that anime. It's nice to know that there would be a sequel. I hope it was true though.

Positive indications are a comment by Gotoh in a recent interview that he was working on a new, unnamed anime and "currently getting deeper into the progress of it", the talk about a PV and the fact that Aya is already involved in some way.

Well, I did see a hint in the Gemini Knives novel that it may be set later in the same continuity (not being able to read most of the text I am rather in the dark about the story as a whole however) so you never know..

It's a big universe, with other material to draw on (the mangas, novels and audio dramas), backstory to explore and new stories to tell.

I actually prefer the OVA to the original series.

Sinestra 2006-10-28 17:24

I liked Kiddy Grade it had good potential i didnt hate the ending but it could have been better i would rather see a couple of OVA's than a full blown sequel.

Xellos-_^ 2006-10-28 19:48

i think the ending was good enough. i really rather have a prequel the a sequel.

Which is why it is an interesting notion for a prequel than a sequel. Although, the technological advances since then....we are talking a lot of years here :heh:

well, if this sequel is true I'd like to.....see a planet transform :heh: I mean, the ship idea has been used already, what else can be bigger than that besides a planet? :heh: :heh:

Nelson Shin to the rescue :heh:

For what I kwon Keiji Gotoh and is group are working on Gigantic Formula so who is doing KD2?

The design seems to me the same of the first series (and similar to UtaKata too) so I assume tha staff is the same (any news about animation studio?)

I like to see a 2 part story.

Part 1 would be the period right before the civil war.
Part 2 would during the civil war.
