only less hours away till the final showdown between Edward & The BLOB who called himself a god!
- Can The hoenheim impersonator be stopped? - Will mustang get his eyesight back? - Will Edward get his brother Alphonse back to life? - How embarrass that MRS Bradley feel about her Husband & son who was actually Homonculus? I hope this will answer to me soon. THE END IS COMING! |
Oh boy last two episodes, here we go!!!!
I hope Al gets back safe and sound, but not at Ed's expense! Because I'm still waiting for a good ole smooch between Ed and smexy Winry of course :] |

Ed HAS his arm back. It's getting Al back that's the problem (and Ed's leg). They're where they were after transmuting their mother but before Ed attached Al's soul to the armor: Ed's leg is gone (at the gate), and Al is at the gate. |

Well, no waiting for the episode thread this week. WMB must be pumped up... ^_^
Looking forward to some reaction from the anime-only watchers, assuming this gets as far as I think it will... Also interested in seeing just how far it gets, and how much manga material is left for the last episode... Previews from last week show it getting a fair ways into the final chapter, so I'm wondering if there might be a little fleshing out of the remainder, which to some manga readers will be quite the blessing... EDIT: Well, like I expected, it got a litle further than the previous preview suggested. But with what's left, they could easy add just a tad here and there to make it work. From the next preview, it looks like they're going to be doing a little visual homage to the ending of the previous series, and doing it logically within the frame of the end of the manga. Wouldn't surprise me if that was worked out between Arakawa and BONES. As for the actual episode itself, the disconnect between finished chapter and outline given to BONES is very evident. Many things look visually quite different, and a few things happen out of order (or more specifically a certain subplot is handled separately here, wheras it was folded in with everything else in the manga). I'm going to wait for the sub to make my final decision, but it looks like my prediction that there would be a jarring change in pace for the last two episodes is holding true so far. |
Amazing episode.
Poor Father got what he deserved. Suddenly the last segment of the 4th Opening (Period) makes more sense now that I watch this episode. Gonna wait for subs since I didn't understand pretty well what Ed did (Sacrificing Alchemy itself?) R.I.P - Greed :( |
Absolutely loved this episode. Great way to finish up the arc, particularly liking the final scene with Hoenheim at his wife's grave.
Can't wait to see the final episode next week :D |
Oh god they finished this episode with Hoenheim's death. That adds so much more impact to the scene then we got in the manga. & dear me that ED as well. I'm gonna be in tears for the rest of the day. ;_______;

its freakin awesome!! 10/10!!
perfect ending for hohenheim!!! |
*Gives a standing ovation*
RIP, Hohenheim, next to your beloved Tricia. |
simply epic....well...almost have to welcome the great ending...farwell FMA...both manga and anime....
|
Ah darn it, I really don't want this to end yet... reference to Hohenheim final line. Also rest in peace Greed, he die happy and content as well.

Awesome ending sequence, with hohenheim's death and the OP playing over a montage of hohenheim's memories
|
Will need to watch this again with subs, but as of now I'm not too happy with how they handled this ep. Many scenes don't have much impacts as they do in the manga, well, except for the Hohenheim scene in the end which was very touching.
Also, I can't tell for sure but did Bones cut out Roy's line where he says that Ed won't sacrifice himself and leave Al alone because he knows the horror of being left alone? Well, I won't be surprised if they did. :heh: |
I watched the chinese sub and I can confirm they cut Roy's line.

Looks like I was right. There is no way it all could fit in those last episodes without being stretched. And a lot of things were added.
Not that I mind. I will give my opinion about episode after subs are out, but so fat it looks good^^ Glad they put Honheim's death in this episode. |
I thought this was a great episode that resolved pretty much all the plot left. The only thing I'm curious on is how they're going to make an episode out of a conclusion alone. Because to be quite honest, they could've probably ended it right there if they showed what happened to everyone after in the credits.
But I guess they must have something big planned. |
Wow... Greed and Hohenheim's death ( ;_; ) were handled way better than in the manga. I'm really glad they extended those scenes.
It's a bit of a shame they cut out Roy's line, but I think it helped create a bit more suspense. I wonder how many anime only watchers thought Ed was going to sacrifice himself? |

I guess it's true for the people who have watched only Brotherhood, but the ones who've seen the first anime adaptation as well may be influenced by it, deep down. |
@Kanon I watched all of the first series and I never thought Ed would do it :D
Man of all the Homunculi I was hoping Greed would stick around but its fitting how he went out, taking Father down with him. I knew Ed wouldnt sacrifice himself but it took me a second right after he looked at his hands that he would give up his alchemy instead. Im glad he kinda got to stick it to Truth-kun :heh: Oh Hohenheim, that scene was amazing. Gah I cant believe next weeks is the last... |
i call it, anime of the year

edit: Just read a comment here where someone indeed said that were afraid it would end like the 1st anime with Ed & Al sacrificing themselves. |
Just saw subs, nice episode.
Was nice to see some edited lines, made more senc and gave better impression. |
What's the name of the song playing when Homuclus was at the gate of truth

You knew Hohenheim wasn't going to survive through the whole series. Still that was a nice way for him to go after the battle was over and in front of his wife's grave. Also liked the montage with the OP at the end. |
The anime managed to beat the manga with Greed and Hoho's deaths.... ah, the power of dramatic music :heh: Hoho's last moment destroyed me :( For once the Rain insert sounded good.
This episode was seriously an epic overload. I loved seeing Ed and Al return, animated, and the scene with Father in front of his gate was oddly (unintentionally) comical... I think they cut it off at a good moment, leaving the entirety of the final episode free for a nice unrushed epilogue... I am so going to cry next week too. |
It makes a hell of a lot more sense for father to die from Greed's softening + Ed punching a hole in him which released all his remaining lives, cause in the manga, it made no fucking sense how father could have died that easily, especially since he was blocking most attacks by the army + alchemists. It just didn't make sense that ed punching a hole through him was the last death father had left in him.

Spoiler for episode:
|
They knocked it out of the park with this one. Hoho's death was executed perfectly, and finally BONES actually got Rain to fit perfectly. Third times the charm (?)
Anyway it's great to see that the final episode will be a well paced epilogue. |

Spoiler:
And when you think about it, sacrificing himself is STILL sacrificing a "life" which kinda betrays their promise not to use human lives.... |
I thought either hoenheim would give his life or that ed would give up his memories to get al's body back. Giving up the memories would have more impact but I guess it would ruin the ending.
|
No Battle Scherzo for the final battle. :(
Wish they had used the BRADJA theme from the first FMA (very unlikely) for the last part. or at least Ray of Light for the ending theme. lol King Bradley stayed as a Hero. |
For me, the entire third act with Hoenheim was the highlight of the episode. I knew he wouldn't survive (though part of me hoped he would, as he's a wonderful character), but they really handled his exit beautifully. And I'm glad they saved an entire episode for the epilogue, as Seirei no Moribito did - when you have a long-running series with a deep emotional investment in the characters, I think it's cheating the audience not to give them that kind of closure.
|
I'll admit, tears were flowing down from my eyes during the scene where Van Hohenheim died with a smile at Trisha's grave.
10/10 for the super excellent episode and I want to declare this day my own VAN HOHENHEIM DAY, 27.Jun.10 *sings Rain by Sid*. |
so thats the end for Greed and Father aka the black pacman
why do i feel like Hoenheim is the hero haha 1 more eps to settle the relationships? i will be angry if Roy and Riza not ending up together |
