This description does not fit for anime renders. Since anime renders are simplified 2D vector renders (the term rendering is actually misleading).

And that is why you got it wrong. These renders are not 3D! If they were, they would not have such a shading (I know that anime style shading is not exact to the actual "would be model" of a character. That means it is usually wrong shaded, though our mind doesn't care much, like it doesn't care if eyes are placed wrong or are too huge etc.) These so called renders are based on 2D vector graphic. The term render refers to the process of translating vector graphic into pixel graphic (the result is the render). They are usually exact 2D spline/nurbs/bezier traces of low quality source images. Sometimes they got special 2D (light) effects applied. |
