I see, but I guess the higher output of GN Particles, the less weight the Gundam is. 00 Raiser with that kind of output would surely make its weight insignificant.

lol that dont help the kit when you try to stand it up though...lol oh well thats what a stand is for.

Oh, as an aside - it's neat how you can set up the beam saber hilt so that it looks like it's about to be drawn!

LightningZERO 2008-12-09 22:50

00 Raiser looks awesome, especially the big sword.

Thought it won't be included in the HG kits...:(

Nerroth 2008-12-09 22:51

I don't mind buying it separately for my HG 00, though.

(Any word on how long it should take the HG Mr. Bushido Ahead to filter over to Canadian or US retailers?)

The GN Sword 2 beam saber blades are variable length:

Standard length:

These are the RD 00-Raiser right?

Do we know if the 1/100 00 Raiser set is getting them or not?

Nerroth 2008-12-10 01:37

I don't care overly much for the overblown Trans-Am size, personally.

(If they were supposed to be that big, at least make the 00 hold it like a lance, not swung around like a sword.)

Graham Acker would get nose bleed if he sees 00 swings them in lance form.

Which reminds me, we haven't seen 00 combine them in the series yet have we?

Yup, the above is for the RD O-Raiser, while the second one is for the Deluxe (DX) set.

And the 1/100 00 Raiser has no indication of having those beam blades.

Given that beam blades are near weightless themselves, that'd be a rather moot point.

Nope, we haven't :heh:

Nerroth 2008-12-10 01:58

It's not just a matter of the weight, it's about the kind of fighting stance one would try to use with such an ungainly weapon.

Even if it didn't weigh much more, if anything, compared to a non-activated GN Sword, it would still make sense to at least try and use it double-handed, and to adopt a different stance or technique when trying to fight with it.

(And using two at a time is asking for trouble...)

LoweGear 2008-12-10 02:18

But weight is a factor: The reason most long weapons are held with two hands is because using current materials, such weapons become heavier as they become longer. For a sword, ideally one would want to have the maximum length with minimum weight. If any swordsman had the ability to wield a large bladed weapon with a single hand they'd do so.

The near-weightless nature of beam weapons means that you can get maximum length for the minimum of weight, which allows for large weapons that can be wielded as though they were single-handed weapons. It's ungainly only if it was heavy as much as it is large, but as shown the blades themselves aren't really that wide, just long, and being made out of energy they won't really weigh much (at least in-universe; model kits are another matter).

The style of how a weapon is handled is determined by the weapon's properties and function, and not simply on its aesthetics.
