Episode is out.
It's a pretty comfy show with slice of life style of storytelling. I would like to know more about the main guys in this series though as they just seems to be there for their roles at the moment. The food surprisingly looked creatively well made and realistic. The cafe place itself looks pretty normal too. Not expecting a complicated story from this but it's definitely going to be very relaxing to watch for the season. |
-all sorts of delicious food
-retro feeling -ikemen with pleasant voices -making all sorts of delicious food -in cute and pretty sets -cute fluffy cat -also, all that delicious food -all that iyashi -not sure if I mentioned the delicious food This show is just... not fair... not... fair... orz (I think I now understand the term "late night food terror". :heh:) |
Just popping in here to say..."Someone TELL ME WHERE I CAN FIND THIS CAFE?!!!"
*cough* Sorry...sugar rush...that's what happens after too much eye candy. :heh: |
That cafe has a seriously nice layout. Some good looking guys in this show—my favorite being the blue haired one followed by the redhead. The bunny looked like something out of a horror story though, despite that I still wanted coffee after seeing it.
Soothing first episode looking forward to the next one. |
Really is a very peaceful anime.
|
Very peaceful indeed... very calming and healing.
Except, it makes me hungry and want to spend lots of money at the nearest Japanese restaurant... also, where are all the hot guys with pleasant voices listening to my problems while feeding me yummy food and tasty tea, while a cute fluffy cat is purring next to me? Dammit, reality. :heh: |
^ I understand completely...I’m currently facing months without a cat for comfort and all the handsome fellows near me are married or dating.:heh:

In a completely unexpected turn of events, Yotsuiro biyori is actually my favorite show in this season, tied with Megalo Box. And to think I didn't expect much from this series. (And to think that a new LoGH anime is also airing in this season... and it's not even in my top three.)
And just when I thought I would make it through this episode safe... a sweets special. Not fair, so not fair... orz Also, the show actually made me laugh, with the insensitive cat doing insensitive cat things while the humans are going through all sorts of anguish (whoever wrote this gets cat behavior), and also this face: Dynamic tag cannot be rendered. (PrintableThread) That combination of sparkles and dead eyes, because you have a cute cat that is the light of your life but also you have a family trauma. :heh: Also, this guy walks around with photos of his cat. (Who even does that? Not me, definitely not me. Don't look at me like I have dozens of photos of the office dog in cute poses either, because I totally don't.) By the way, I'd been noticing this before, but doesn't this show have really good animation? Pure production values and mostly constant quality aside (I mean, just compare this to say, Kakuriyo no yadomeshi) there's also flashes of great character animation, very expressively animated small scenes, etc. It's just so entertaining even to watch. (And then all that delicious food... sigh.) That shot in the opening where the flowers turn into various sweets makes me smile every time. |
This is a very good show. Ep 2 was very heart warming and ep 3 was a shocker. Who would have thunk it? And here I thought it's a sol. It is my favorite of the season currently. Likeable characters and delicious food (made possible by the beautiful animation.) I found myself laughing a lot (especially in ep 3 where the guys realized they were PSed.) It was great.

Sui confirmed as most relatable character of the season. :heh: And bonus point for Kinako behaving like an actual cat!
I've been catching up with the manga in the meantime, and I'm really impressed by how good the show is at adapting it, not simply with the deft handling of the stories, but also small things like not "leaving behind" characters who easily blend into the background. And the heartwarming and healing stories are even more heartwarming and healing, thanks to the warm (and tasty-looking) visuals and the voice acting. It's a shame that this show is not getting more attention... |

I was browsing the forum and realised this series isn't on the front page, even though an episode aired today. It's not exactly a show that entices me to talk about it much, so maybe that's it? It's easily one of the best shows this season, with a very keen eye for body language (for both human and feline characters), and the gests span all ages and genders and blend really well. It's calming, and the backgrounds are gorgeous (those rich colours). The voice acting is so soothing, too. Oh, and Kinako must be one of the best cats I've seen recently in anime (that episode with the kitten!). This episode went a little more into the backstory, and it slots into the ongoings pretty well. This show has such a rich social texture. Really, more people should watch this. |
I enjoyed watching this show. Makes me hungry each time...and now I want some mochi.
But one thing I wish they would explain was what happened between the brothers to break up their relationship to such an irreparable point? |

Other than that issue, it was a satisfying show. |
That's pretty much my only "gripe" with the story as well. From what little's been shown my assumption is that it stems from Sui deciding to take over their grandfathers business, but more concrete evidence would have been nice. Other then that it was a lovely show.
