Mobile Suit Gundam UC Unicorn - Generic Anime Discussion

This thread is to discuss your expectations of the Unicorn Gundam OVA series (slated to begin releasing in spring 2010) and to speculate as to what story elements will be used.

A discussion thread (with poll) will be created when the work is actually released (as it is a worldwide release, AnimeSuki would consider it currently as licensed) so please use this thread as the place to discuss any news or speculation about the series. Do note that separate threads will come out as the OVA episodes are released.

lol, you left out arguably two of the most important Gundam roles up there, Namikawa as Al Izuhara (protagonist of 0080) and Takagi as Garrod Ran (Protagonist of X)

I have a feeling that they'll use Ichiro Nagai as the narrator for this show too... His narration of MSG was one of the more iconic parts of that show.

Shuuichi Ikeda as Full Frontal! Not suprising at all, but still a win in my book.

Seems that they changed Marida's incognito casual outfit from the first volume there.

It was describe that Marida was dressed "in a fitting blazer with a mini skirt, her long hair tied togther and left to flow onto the back. Standing upright with her chest out, it hard to miss her good looking figure even from afar. Anyone could have mistaken her for a secretary from a large coperation." From that little cap, she doesn't look anything like how the text makes her out to be.

Nope, that's the NZ-666 Kshatriya.

Patriot's Blade 2009-09-03 01:27

well, it does said to be based on the Quin Mantha's design, but with its size being down scaled

to me so far, the only thing that can make me distinguish between Kshatriya & its predecessor suit is its trademark "black uniform that it wears" & its two different coloured beam sabers

... and perhaps that the Quin Mantha only had two shoulder binders wheras the Kshatriya having four and the two looking otherwise nothing alike.

Well you can't really see the extra shoulder binders clearly in that image. The two look similar at first glance and it seems pretty obvious that the Kshatriya was somewhat inspired by the Quin Mantha. I took it as being an updated looking Quin Mantha (with more grit to it) when I first saw that image.

well, but unfortunately the two extra binders are facing backwards so you can only see two of them when the suit is facing foward towards directly right at you, so its easy to mistook it for a smaller version of its old Quin Mantha predecessor :heh:

btw, it kinda also reminds me of "nightmare of solomon" Anavel Gato's Neue Ziel from the Gundam 0083 Stardust Memory ova & aswell "iron mask" Carozzo Ronah's Rafflesia from the Gundam F91 movie

GN0010 Nosferatu 2009-09-03 18:36

I'm surprised this thread has even reached 3-5 pages yet. I'd figure everyone be talking about the animation.

Hellbore 2009-09-03 19:20

OK, so it seems that they're slightly more similar than I remember..

I'll just be over there...

GN0010 Nosferatu 2009-09-03 20:48

The only thing they have in common is the binders and mass. Otherwise, I don't see a strong resemblance.

The binders are the Quin Mantha's signature feature, so that alone should be enough to consider it similar (not to mention the color-scheme, which is not exactly a common one)... In fact looking at those side-by-sides, the Kshatriya definitely looks more similar to the Quin Mantha than the Sinanju does the Sazabi (which is the other often-cited "ripoff" in Unicorn)

GN0010 Nosferatu 2009-09-03 22:21

I'm gonna go off topic here, but how do you pronounce "Kshatriya"?

I'm thinking it sounds like "Kayshatriya"?

Actually I'm interested to know as well. I would assume that it has some Russian origin and it is just pronounced "Kshatriya," but knowing Sunrise, they might decide to give it a weird pronunciation.

Hellbore 2009-09-04 03:24

Going from the Kana, it pronounced KA-SHYA-T(O)-RI-YA (カシゃトリヤ)
