Generally I've found that all the characters are good in Shin Mega Ten games and you never really have characters like Hope or Vanille or Tidus or any of the other ones Western gamers love to hate from recent FF games.

Anyway its tough to top Yukiko Amagi from Persona for me as far as heroines go. She's I think the only character to be in 3 games in the series as well.

Lucifer's been in more games as a character that has a good bit of influence in the plot: every mainline SMT except If..., Raidou's games, Majin Tensei 2, the first Devil Children games, and a bunch of other ones I'm probably forgetting.

I recently played the game again, just want to get the true ending before the anime airs

Holy sht, there's tonnes of core story to cover, not to mention those little character interactions that make them memorable. 1 cour would definitely be too rushed :/
