I really think you are too pessimistic. Complaining about sins that didn't happen yet (or even things that aren't really sins in first place).

You yourself assembled pretty long list of works where main heroines lost to lesser and there are works with wince too, yes both are few and far between, but given you complain in every single manga or anime, once you run into masterpiece with blood related side character stealing protagonist from generic main heroine you will have no enjoyment from it as you spend 200 chapters being solty before proven wrong.

It's better hope and be disappointed then never hope. Anyway next season we are supposed get at least one blood related sister as main heroine. So it's certainly less rare then unicorns. I know it from own experience as I actually dropped original Macross once, because Hayao x Minmai looked like inevitable ending? It was almost greatest miss in my Otaku history...
