I like her design and that whole pirate theme.

New Tales game announced half year after release of previous game... They probably want just to forget about that whole Zestiria fail and start working on new game ASAP.

I can't shake off how similar she looks to Mila though.

No doubt, because Zestiria is their lowest rated, least selling Tales of game, because of the faulty new battle system, the issue with the cameras, and the heroine controversy.

How long until she gets replaced by another character and Bamco stars saying she was never meant to be a MC?

This would officially be the first Tales game actually made for current gen consoles right?

Neither Alisha Edition or Zestiria 2/F/Dawn of New World, etc. this time. LOL.

Velvet looks good; looks forward for the male lead.

I do agree the title is somehow awful-- let's hope this game won't have good title but awful value like Zestiria.

Velvet is apparently the sole protagonist, so no dual-protagonists like with Milla and Jude in Xillia (however much Milla may have been the real main), so replacing the main heroine this time around would be even more blatant and controversial than it was in Zestiria :heh:.

I do wonder if there might be a male party member or prominent male character who could function as the male lead of the game, just not as the protagonist, but I guess we'll see as more information and news comes out about it :).

Rina Sato goes from a sexy antagonist in Xillia to a sexy Main Heroine in Berseria...I'd call that a win-win for her in terms of role :D.

The pirate theme is definitely interesting and cool, and I'm looking forward to seeing more about the setting. I wonder if, ala One Piece, each party member will have their own role to serve in Velvet's crew? Velvet being a pirate to begin with has me wondering whether she might get more into Yuri-style moral ambiguity compared to the past few Tales MC's...

not necessarily. It will still have a PS3 port.

Somehow, I have to wonder if there would be as much controversy as there were for Zestiria if that actually happened... Well, granted with Zestiria in mind there defintiely would be, but still :heh:.

My first impression was also of a black-haired Milla :D. Her character art looks nice. I would laugh if there would be - as mentioned by Tactics - a male version from "hero" to "appears in". Even if only to see how large the fangirl "population" is compared to Scamco's Alishia debacle :heh:

Yeah, I've got to run with the easy joke. Can't wait to see Velvet get replaced by a male MC and be turned into the mid boss :heh:.

But really I'm not that surprised they are moving fast into the next Tales after the mess that has been Zestiria.

Yeah, it could easy end up like a Suikoden 4, which was HORRIBLE and the worst Suikoden I've ever played in the series(played 1~5 mind you). OR, it could end up like Wind Waker, which is my favorite LoZ game =03.

Honestly, I've liked Chat; though she has the worst design in the entire series, she was funny, and Patty was even better. If they can make her as good as how Patty was generally portrayed, she'll be an enjoyable char(and more than story, I find it important that char synergy is high, like in Graces). Can't say more than that until I've at least seen some video of something.

Belts, some armor, ripped tights, a cape, and a long bra I think...but mostly just belts :heh:.

Edit: Scratch that, not a cape or a long bra, but more a longcoat attached to her breasts and waist :eyespin:.
