This novel entered my favorites list as soon as I finished reading volume 1. I think fans of the science vs occult type genre will probably enjoy this as well ^^.
As the title suggests, this work has 9 protagonists, and the story is set in Kichijouji.

Hmm, I wonder why it isn't a visual novel like the others. Otherwise, seems interesting

Maybe the author just wanted to challenge his novel writing skills? In the authors notes, he does put emphasis on the fact that he isn't confident in writing novels at all though.
Anyways, even if it doesn't have a visual novel now, it's probably getting one soon. On the cover of the 2nd volume, it already says it will be made into a game. The cast is even decided already!

Is this related to Shin Megami Tensei: Persona?

The pics does resemble Persona's design and "science meets occult" is one of SMT's trademark but it has no relation with the story whatsoever.

The artist also drew illustrations for UNGO and Rental Magica, so you might see resemblances there. But I can see where you're going with the Persona reference. The yellow and black background on the first volume cover looks like Persona 4 ahah.

In terms of story though, I think the style is kind of similar to Durarara. Instead of Ikebukuro, Occultic;Nine is set in Kichiouji, and there are POV switches between the 9 protagonists to get different perspectives and events.

Was it? I don't think everything was adapted from it, just the plot line involving the teacher.

Ok this anime is crazy good. First is how practically everyone of the main characters have a secret about themselves including the manga artist, the detective, and most of all the childhood friend after she received that mysterious phone call at the end of episode 3 and her behavior made a 360 complete change when she responded as if taking orders from somebody. The light novel apparently is still on-going so don't really know how the ending to this anime is going to be but supposedly all nine characters are eventually going to have no choice but get drawn together forming their group the Occultic Nine. I really do feel bad for the main character since he's been cursed by his childhood friend and junior since they thought it would be a harmless joke but once again the mystery behind his childhood friends true identity makes it seem that maybe her getting him cursed was planned to begin with.
