How do you brush your models? I never tried but when I brush my clears they come out perfect I never seen any brush marks. I only plan on brushing small areas big areas I just spray on with a can
|
I thin my acrylics with denatured alcohol and then I brush the paint. Clear acrylic paints don't leave a lot of brush strokes, the problem is solid colors. Cleaning up the Revell Aqua paint is a pain in the ass so I quit using them.
But now I'm going to use enamel paints and MR Color Lacquer paints combined Mr thinner and MR retarder. Haven't tried MR Color yet, will do when I have time. I'm painting the grey/brownish Astraea parts with enamel. The armor will be painted with MR Color Lacquer Red. |
cool I liked the stock look of astrea with some panel lining so I opted not to color it. I will color the yellow in the V fin though. When I start on Avalanche Exia I will color the blue/red/yellow pieces but thats it has anyone ever tried the chrome gundam marker? Or like those chrome pens you can buy at like a hobby store or cvs?
Add me to msn Scavenger |
I think I'm going to try and paint as less as possible model kits from now on, except for the pile I currently have. I'm getting discouraged by bad paint jobs, which makes me not want to finish my kits. :heh: I'm getting an Exia in the mail soon and I'm not going to paint it, except for minor details.
I'll add you on MSN. |
cool yea me personally I like the way they look and spray painting is so easy

Hey guys I was going to order my Mg Destiny Gundam and after completing Astrea the nubs kinda got out of control when I didn't paint them. So I think when I do MG Destiny I'm going to fully spray it with at least one coat.
I'm thinking of spraying the Metallic Red/Blue and GunMetal for red/blue/black and I noticed the seed destiny markers come with a light blue so ill use that for nubs but as far as that light green like for the face and stuff what should I use for that? Any Ideas? http://i722.photobucket.com/albums/w.../mg101_r_e.jpg http://i722.photobucket.com/albums/w.../mg101_r_d.jpg And what about this green http://i722.photobucket.com/albums/w.../mg101_r_h.jpg |
may (or is) sound stupid but whats the diffrence with the HG-sets and the others???
|
More detail and bigger than others
FG 1/200? Crap don't get them IMO HG 1/144 smaller and less detail more posable (I hear) costs less NG/HG 1/100 bigger more detail less posability costs a bit more like 27-30 bucks MG 1/100 More detail more posability inner frame lots of extras cost more 50-80 bucks PG and NG 1/60 Alot bigger alot of posability more expensive in the 150-400 range I personally only do 1/100 NG or MG kits and SD Kits Never did a 1/144 kit. ANd of course the higher up you get in grades the more pieces and time it takes to build. EDIT FG = First Grade HG = High Grade MG= Master Grade PG= Perfect Grade NG= No Grade |

There is 1/144 First grade, which is an easy put together kit. Not very detailed and requires painting. HG High Grade are detailed and usually requires some painting but not much, good articulation. NG 1/100 are higher in detail and size and require much less painting to detail the gundam. Kinda the inbetween of a MG and HG but not to the quality of MG. MG master Grade are very detailed and comes with a inner frame. Usually more expensive but the quality is amazing, great articulation. Then their is PG 1/60 Perfect grade, almost perfect detailing, an inner frame. very expenisve but very impressive. I'm probably missing out a lot but eh. And I almost forgot SD, their the small ones with big heads :D |
So take both my post and Okamidum post and you kinda get your answer :-)

woot! :p thx 4 the info, i do have some experience with 5th grade revel kits. so these wont be too hard right?
