Maria is probably the character I'm actually most interested in finding out more about after the foreshadowing at the end of the 2nd episode that she's responsible for much death and suffering. If this checks out sooner rather than later I have a hunch this thread is going to become very busy.

Aye, ditto. I was a little disappointed that the third episode didn't deal with how or why she's responsible for all of that..

Other than that, her hair is awesome. Red hair = <3

Hopefully whatever has to do with her will be as awesome as her design suggests.

Malkuth 2012-10-27 11:03

^^ even more awesome according to the manga :naughty:

She is also the character I am most interested in thanks to the ominous foreshadowing by the narrator (no it's not because she's voiced by Kana! I swear!). What could have led her to kill (or at least be responsible) for so many deaths?

Why do i get the impression that she has a thing for Saki?

Well I think we all got that impression during the first episode...:heh:

From my understanding whatever she's responsible for may happen at a (far) later point in time than episode 2.

Oh.. that'd make sense. I just assumed that whatever she was "responsible" for had occurred when she was born.

Maria is one of the better representations of a lesbian character that I've seen in anime.

You can tell that her relationship with Saki means an awful lot to her, but Maria is also a very smooth and well-adjusted individual in general, and not some sex maniac.

Such a shame that Saki/Maria can't last due to the conventions of their society. :heh:

Maria is a nice girl... She likes Saki very much... and she is her premarital mate..

She's assertive ( if you what episode 8, your jaw will drop), far more hard core in the manga!!!

Anyway... based on the current situation she seemed to have chosen Mamoru to be her mate.. I'm glad.. What a nice couple they'll be but still Maria will still be on the top...

I can't be glad about it myself. I feel sorry for her actually. It's pretty obvious to me Maria doesn't love Mamoru but she's pressured to choose a mate and Mamoru is really the only option.

What do you mean Mamoru was her only option? Almost every guy in her class would've killed to be with her however Maria picked Mamoru more out of obligation and pity not because she was forced to pick him.

He means any other guy would have jump straight into Maria's pants the moment she choose him since they would become an official couple. It is not shown but I can bet that day after school the rest of the class were in whatever is the equivalent of "love hotels", not that they went so far as making babies, but checking the equipment they have been paired with >_<

NoemiChan 2012-12-10 17:19

Guys... S is for S and M is for M ( Satoru/Shun X Saki and Maria X Mamoru)...

Maria knew this was coming... and she must accept it and enjoy heterosexual relationship. She must experience the taste of both worlds then choose after that.. muahahahaha..

I didn't say she was forced to pick him. But she was forced to pick someone, a male, and out of all the fuckers in the school Mamoru was the only one who was a friend and cared about her. She might have felt pity for him, but considering she doesn't really like males in general and is just doing this because it's expected of her, he really was the only option.

This makes no sense. Would you enjoy a relationship with someone you don't love or aren't even attracted to? She has to accept it, yeah, but she doesn't have to like it, and it's pretty obvious she doesn't.

Oh I get what your saying now but from the looks of things Saki will still remain her first and one ture love. Which also sucks for Mamiru since he'll be loyal to her no matter what.

From his post it just sounds to me like he's just having a laugh about all this. You should just ignore that obvious troll post.

Guys.... why is it so unthinkable that Maria actually likes Mamoru and enjoys being with him? Loves him, even, in a way? If she didn't care about him she wouldn't be so protective of him since they were twelve. If she found his devotion annoying she would've already cut him off. (remember how easily they cut off Reiko?) But no, she's very protective of him, much more than anyone else from the group, and wants to keep him safe and sane. She probably also enjoys having such a devoted admirer around. Her having picked Mamoru was a given, since they already hang out together a lot (which she also wouldn't do if she didn't like him).

(I also don't quite get how people here have reached certain other conclusions about her, but I'm not going there...)

I do think that she likes him as a friend and cares a lot about him. I just don't see her being attracted to him like she is towards Saki. In fact, putting aside Saki's longing for Shun, Maria's attraction for Saki was the only thing that seemed genuine to me when it comes to romantic feelings. All in all, I'm pretty sure she would stick with her is she wasn't socially conditioned to look for a male partner.
