Fairy Tail licensed by Funimation (License & dub discussion)
 

Funimation have announced the license for Fairy Tail at Sakura-Con 2011. Release due late 2011. See ANN for more details. At this point in time we are assuming that the entire TV series and OVAs are licensed.

Feel free to discuss the topic of the licensing as well as dubbing of Fairy Tail in this thread. And as usual, any discussion about where to acquire the Fairy Tail anime are not allowed.

Time to play WHO DO YOU WANT TO BE IN THE CAST, funimation people only, OF THE NEW FT DUB!?

My suggestions:

Laura Bailey as Lucy, as long as she doesn't do that bitchy Tokine voice from Kekkaishi, it's all good^^.
Colleen Clickenbeard as Erza, she can be serious as hawkeye, girly as rose, and pervy as Matsu, GENIUS!
Vic Mignogna can play Loki maybe.
Travis Willingham or Chris Sabat can play Gajeel.

Ya I just hope they dont sit on this for a full year before releasing it like it seem they do with ever title they get now

Actually, Funimation is working on it now and they plan to release the DVD/BD later this year. :D

I hope they announce an exact release date soon, like october/november/december 20 sumthin...

I hope we do get a release date soon. I want to start collecting the FT DVDs. I am also curious to hear the dub.

I hope Lucy sounds more like Cecily Campbell than Setsuna Sakurazaki.
Monica Rial would probably make a better Levy or Laki or Sherry IMO. But she'll do Mirajane OK

The only character I've heard Todd Haberkorn voice is Watanuki which doesn't suit Natsu at all. Can anyone with more experience allay my fears?

Well, he does Ling's english voice from Full Metal Alchemist Brotherhood and Nijiima from Kenichi. He also does Death the Kid from Soul Eater and Allen Walker from D Gray-man.

You gotta wonder why Colleen is recently being hired to play a lot of ecchi roles. Matsu from Sekirei, Rin from Mnemosyne, (insert other ecchi role if you know any other), and now we have Erza. Forget Viagre, dubbing ecchi animé is your new enhancer ;).

Awesome news, I hope he reveals the release date for the first Fairy Tail DVD in the U.S.

Funimation just dubbed Season 1 and (I think) Season 2 Pure Engagement. Check it out when you can haegar.
