Then again, living in Asia means Gunpla are dirt cheap, unlike in US or Europe.

It's why I say, if you're not into doing custom paints, or painting all your kits with details. It's not great. You still need to hand brush details. Don't let anyone fool you into thinking an airbrush is magic. The major factor is how thin the coats will be. You can make them super thin, with full coverage.

You can get away with a cheap airbrush and still do wonders with it.
Personally what I think will hurt you the most is a good compressor. Those things run for quite abit :heh:

That's why I said buying into airbrush is expensive. Not the airbrush itself. You "can" get a seriously good airbrush for $100 USD. Or a great one used from someone who upgrades to an better one. Usually a professional will take great care of their tools, sell for low price.
Just some good advice. Get airbrush with a lot of aftermarket. You'll want fine spray needles. Dual action is a must for models. Gravity fed is best, but you can make do with siphon fed. Get a compressor with a tank. If you have a shop compressor, that works too! Just make sure it has a moisture trap. Water in your air sucks. You can use any compressor. Well... Ok that's a lie. You need to have a regulator on it. Which means you can control the air flow. Most airbrush shouldn't be used with more then 40psi.(the airbrush will say in the manual) Just need the right adapter for your hose. |
