There was in fact a user with the name of Kitsune, it was just that they appear to have never used the account since creating it in 2003 (and have never logged on since 2004). Even if you try using the Members List and searching for a name, it doesn't show those users who have never made a post.

That would be the reason why a new Kitsune was never created, as you say it would be rather unusual that the name hadn't been selected until now.

I've renamed the old inactive Kitsune to a new name and changed <Suigintou> to Kitsune
