The parts to watch this episode:
1. Touma's lecture (for the poor lambs who have lost their way)
2. Mikoto
3. Index's legs
4. The ending screenshot (for you masochists)

Spoiler for ep23:

I'm glad I wasn't the only one laughing at the direction in this episode.

This episode was boring for the most part. It might be more interesting with subs, but considering a good deal of it is Touma talking about stuff he's talked about three times already, I don't think it'll be that interesting. As Serenade said, work on the pace. This was just too slow.

On that note, I have finally found out why I just couldn't care less about Index: She was absolutely useless throughout most of the season. In this episode however, we actually see her do something.

That's right, Index is actually fighting back. And it makes her ten times more likable through it. Sure, in the end she didn't win, but the fact alone that she was fighting certainly made her far more likable to me.

I am, however, rather curious as to what Index was using. Spell Intercept? Index even said right there that she couldn't use magic, so what exactly is this Spell Intercept?

Why did they chose such a boring volume to end on?
Spoiler for Ep 23:

The author likes to contradict himself

Spell Intercept is the spell that didn't consume any magic power.
First Index classify the type of enemy's magic then use her knowledge from the book of Notaricon to make a code that directly interrupt the head of the enemy who cast a spell/technique system, and make that operation to be cancelled.

So basically... Spell Intercept is like yelling "Look to your left!" at your opponent?

Except that it's about ten times more powerful.
It's an natural born enemy for all the magicians, Except for someone such as Aureolus who use the unassortable type magic(Ars Magna) or the one who use magic to enchance their physical tech like Kaori(In fact she used to had a Reisou(Spiritual equipment) "Walking church" for a defense aspect(It's an absolutely defensive tool that absorb all physical/magical damages, and it's said to be strong enough to withstand "Dragon Breath") until baka Touma incidentally destroy it).

In other words, it's a convenient little spell (excuse by author) to give Index some magical ability without breaking the rules she made, huh.
Let's make a bunch more spells that don't consume magic power.

That shot of Sphinx
I noticed it on tenkaseiha. It was hilarious. :heh::heh::heh:

Considering muttering random numbers may affect a person who is counting an inventory of items,
it is fairly reasonable to have a spell interrupt which does not consume magic power.

I much prefer this little excuse over Index being completely useless, though.

But Index is a completely useless marshmallow

eiyuu99 2009-03-12 10:18

but a marshmallow is a tasty confection!
It's just that Touma doesnt want to ea(KO'd by random sharpshooter)

Tarepandax3 2009-03-12 18:49

If there is no kiss in this anime I am going to be mad>< xD I'm sorry random outburst. I got so dissipointed in Ouran Host Club when there was no kiss. I don't want another anime like that T_T

Clarste 2009-03-12 18:59

I really doubt there'll be a kiss. This isn't a romance series. The harem thing is more of a joke than anything else.

Yeah, I guess your right. I hope they have a second series. They didn't include all the characters from the novel:(

Poor Sphinx :eyespin:

It's gender equality. ;)

Sherry was shot at in the last episode by male members of Anti-Skill and almost had a hand grenade tossed at her so..
