A short description of the main character:

Quote:

The story's main character. With a dislike of the countryside, she longs a life in the city, wanting to become "something special" by coming to Tokyo. However, in the end, she wasn't able to do the things she wants for herself. After failing 30 job examinations and on the verge of giving up, she finds a strange offer to become a "king of a mini-independent state" (aka a sightseeing ambassador) on Kannoyama (or Ainoyama) Village. She is an everybody's friend, but is actually just being true to herself. An "ordinary" girl, in the sense that "ordinary" is more complicated than it seems.
Also, BUNBUN again? Shouldn't they try expanding their horizons instead of sticking to one character designer?

More official news:

http://www.animenewsnetwork.com/news...c-town/.109589

"The story centers on five girls who work in the tourism bureau of their small provincial town. The town revives its "micro-nation" tourism program, which originated from a nationwide movement during Japan's bubble economy period, and hires the five girls as "monarchs" (tourism ambassadors). The anime will depict one year in their jobs in the tourism industry, and show how they change and grow.

During the bubble economy in Japan, a micro-nation fad arose, where regions in Japan declared themselves "micro-nations" to revive tourism and industry in their region, starting with the "Shin Yamatai Koku" nation in 1977. The micro-nations coordinated with local governments and tourism bureaus, and some even had their own chambers of commerce. At its height, there were over 200 such micro-nations in Japan."

My gut tells me the girl on the far left is best girl (long hair, looks a bit hater-ish), with the girl on 2nd from the left being worst girl (she looks the most derpy/moeblob out of the 5).

Hmm.....

Official OP song

The first episode packed a lot of thigs mainly focused on Koharu who's the main character here.

This gave me Shirobako vibes but here is a bunch of cute girls around Koharu trying to achieve certain goal. We didn't get the introducion of all the cast that is included in the OP but I'm sure we're going to see them very soon.

Overall... it wasn't too interesting to be honest, the humor wasn't funny too. Still gonna give this a shot.

Looks fine to me. Koharu a cute. This is worth continuing for now.

Pen3 2017-04-05 14:58

The problem is that they made her look so much like Miyamori that i am forced to expect amazing things from her. I might just be setting myself up for a disappointment.

I enjoyed that, liked the way they showed just how run down this small town in the arse-end of nowhere is, and how it's full of old folks who want to pull in the young'uns to revitalise their town.

Koharu, you should ALWAYS read the contract...!
When she realised what was going on and clouted the guy in the monster outfit with her bag, I laughed.

So far, this looks like the best of the new shows I've seen.

Gan_HOPE326 2017-04-05 15:47

So between Shirobako, Girlish Number and this I assume "disenchanted thirty-somethings dealing with the trappings of real jobs" is now an anime genre. Well, okay, I can use a glimpse of this in fiction to escape from the reality of my daily life... which is basically the same exact thing :heh:.

Kanon 2017-04-05 15:51

I'm not sure what to make of the story of this first episode, but the MC already won me over. She really feels like she jumped right out of Shirobako.

Definitely subbing :) I like Koharu a lot; very endearing imo. Also, the 'bus guy' scene was hilarious.
I kind of like SoL, so that may be why I didn't find it as boring as some of you did.

Dawnstorm 2017-04-05 17:39

I see your Shirobako and raise you a Hanasaku Iroha. This is core PA Works; unexceptional but lots of fun. Better premiere, IMO, than Shirobako (which took a while to get going for me). I like the dead-pan sleeping-bag girl. Also, a good sense of space.

SeaDoor 2017-04-05 17:47

The first episode was more charming than I was expecting. Will stick around for a bit.
