This could be the greatest magic girl show to ever grace the silver screen, or another ambitious project that's more about the talent backing it than the actual show.

Regardless, I'm excited. Despite being somewhat wary of SHAFT shows recently, I'd love to see how this turn out, just out of sheer curiosity. This is the first Original Anime the studio is handling right? (I can't remember if they ever did an Original before, they seem more engrossed in adaptations)

BTW, nice to see you still around sirn. I really did miss your blog

Original SHAFTxShinbo anime? Count me in at 100%. & Yuki Kajiura score? oh yes.

This and Gen Urobuchi are pretty much why I'm mainly interested in the project, everything else is just the icing on the cake :p

Midonin 2010-10-28 14:15

Magical girls and Shinbo and Shaft are enough to grab my attention. I hope Shinbo doesn't hold back and embraces what animation can really do - that is, say "The hell with reality!"

Hopefully it's the former. Either way, with Urobuchi writing, I get the feeling this is going to end up being the next Narutaru....

Not counting their joint productions with Gainax and TNK, SHAFT hasn't had an original project since 2001.

This is now destined to be chaos. I've never seen staff team that is mixed up this much. Kishida's chara design? Music by Kajiura Yuki? Scenario by Gen? Direction by Shinbou SHAFT? Genre Mahou shoujo? This is practically impossible to guess what we will get.

This is just epic!!

Kakkou 2010-10-28 18:11

Holy... now Yuki kajiura is on board? I'm 100% sold. I mean what is this, mystery hotpot? They're taking SHAFT, Shinbo Akiyuki, Urobochi Gen, Aoki Ume, Takahiro Kishida and Yuki Kajiura and throwing them in one project about magical girls? To quote Arbesque, this really could be the greatest of it's genre lol. I'm truly excited now.

Kishida Takahiro ? Which anime did he worked on again ? :heh:

WHAT
Second that.
W000T !?
Just noticed that the song will be done by her. Didn't really noticed it when my friend only told me about the director and some of the staff :heh:
I hope SHAFT will have many staff in this....They were always complained with the lack of staff if I remember correctly.

He's the character designer (not the original designer, mind) for both Baccano and Durarara, among other series.

Hey guys, remember that other sort of popular magical girl show Shinbou directed a while ago? Something about a girl named Nanoha, don't know if you've heard of it before.

(Hell yes I'm excited. Although with the inclusion of Gen Urobuchi, we might be getting something completely different from the standard fare...)

Poor translation as usual. Never take it as accurate translation.

It has been a while for me to work on an original series. I feel the possibility is unlimited as the work progress; maybe we will be able to make a new "Magical Girl" that never exist before. I want to challenge it together with all involved staffs. I look forward to what will come out of it.

Series Composition: Urobuchi Gen (Nitroplus)
I have been entrust with a big duty that is series composition and script for all episodes, even if having director Shinbo Akiyuki and Aoki Ume-sensei as team mate put a lot of pressure on me, I will do my best to deliver a heart-warming happy story to viewers!

Character Draft: Aoki Ume
Have been excited reading Urobuchi-san's script and Shaft's amazing image board, is it really okay to have my ingredient added into this…? It has been fun and grateful to be able to do this. It is gonna be a dish with unique taste…! Please look forward to it. ♪

New series for Shaft's 2011 is an original work with "Magical Girl" as main theme. Both screenplay and character design are wonderful, from now we will have to put staffs effort into finishing up Madoka. Please look forward to meet the new "Magical Girl"!
I like how Ume-sensei and Urobuchi-san comment contradict with each other. :heh:

Reckoner 2010-10-29 01:57

Woah. The staff they compiled for this is mind boggling. I agree, this has potential to be the best magical girl show, period.

If anything, the music is sure to be splendid.

duckroll 2010-10-29 03:43

Surprised to see Kajiura do another full soundtrack again. Haven't heard one from her for a while now...

Lolification 2010-10-29 04:31

This has some major potential, definitely keeping my eye on this one. Akiyuki Shinobo and Kajiura Yuki working on this one. (Really only like SHAFT because of Shinobo.)

A magical girl anime of all things.

Surprisingly, it is.

duckroll 2010-10-29 05:07

What are the odds that this show will take over the Star Driver timeslot in Spring 2011? It's MBS and Aniplex, and it has pretty high profile staffers. Seems pretty likely?
