Wow, what an excellent episode. It drew me in from beginning to end, and when the ending theme song came on, I wanted to scream "noooooooo", it was too soon.

This episode was drama filled, but at least uplifting compared to last week's episode. Sorata confirmed that he did take it out on Mashiro, and he was jealous of her. That is who he is. He also regret taking it out on her, however. Hence, for last week's episode, he was truly blaming Mashiro, even though under the circumstances, it could be understandable. Sorata has grown a lot by this episode, and so has Nanami. There is still a long way to go, but at least he admits to his own weaknesses.

My question now is, did Mashiro hear Sorata's confession of love? She might have been running over in the tunnels and missed his confession completely.

It seems like it is heading towards a happy ending. I wonder if they will conclude the anime properly or if they will leave room for additional seasons.

Like how no one said anything about the car parked in fornt of the gate. Good to see Rita back. Aoyoma admitted that she was only a friend. Good thing they got Mashiro back, but i don't think she heard Sorata's confession. He should have said it a gain. How does Aoyama end up with the hug and not Sorata. Well wonder what they have planned for the graduation ceremony. Liked that Chihiro slapped Fujisawa.

booo Aoyoma, why you have to give up.

Lots of character interactions this episode. Rita x Ryunosuke and the scene with the gamedesigner and dorm supervisor was good scenes.

Think Mashiro said at least 2-3x more lines this episode than the entirely of the rest of the series combined.

Don't really buy Sorata actually being in love with Mashiro at all. Other than taking care of her daily duties, they had few actual personal interactions. With half the series just idolizing her (different from love), then the other half being jealous/afraid of her talent.

Damn you cliche of a confession getting cut off because of a loud noise! Oh well, I suppose it's a good sign that Sorata could at least say it once and has finally figured out his feelings. A double shot for Aoyama though. Went ahead and friendzoned herself because she understood Sorata's feelings, but still had to be the only girl to hear that confession. The odds seem incredibly low for Mashiro having heard it. Since you have that loud train and the fact that she was running to get to the other side of the tracks.

A good episode of growth for Sorata. Went ahead and admitted that he was throwing it all on Mashiro. That letter just completely broke him. In the end there was just no quick fix for that moment. He needed the time to deal with how utterly drained he was from that day. Also needed a crisis like Mashiro going missing to get his thoughts in order. In a time like that there is just a need to make a decision and go.

This let Sorata really think about his feelings. Everything really did get started for him once Mashiro showed up. Just added a splash of colour to his life and through her he found his own goals even if it has meant some painful experiences. For him those experiences are still better than living in that boring state where he just blamed the world for him being bored.

Rough times for Dragon :heh:. With that information leak, Rita is only getting more determined. I think it's a tough balance that Rita needs to strike. Needs to keep determined to eventually get through to Akasaka. But at the same time, she can't push it too far. Will only make him excessively uncomfortable. Well wish them both luck in figuring things out.

Mashiro really has come such a long way. But still also learned that it wasn't the building that would really matter here. While it's a nice thing, the friendships they've gained won't be shattered that easily. Also think we got a good look at what Mashiro's plan C really looks like :).

Will give respect to Aoyama's decision. Kind of sticking to her decision anyways since she failed to pass the audition. But also knowing how Sorata felt and not throwing out a confession she knew couldn't be returned. It has not been a good time lately to be Aoyama.

About Sorata's confession. What he actually said was that he loved the Mashiro who taught him to have a goal in life. He wasn't referring to the romantic type of love.

Sakuratsuki 2013-03-11 20:20

@AP24 you can be right but, Nanami doesnt stand a chance now. And i doubt she ever had a chance from the beginning.

I already have written something about this last week. But some people were angry at me and said i didnt understand this anime.

I already have said it: This anime is about Sorata who didnt care about the goal of his life. He then met a girl who is wonderfull and has much talent. Because of her he was motivated and began to do something with his life. And he couldnt understand why by even doing his best he couldnt succeed. So being frustrated and all he started to hate Mashiro and being jelous about not being on her level. So it was all about Masiro and Sorata from the start of this anime.

Aoyama was the side character and there whas not realy a connexion between sorata and her at all. If we look at the point of love. Some were fucking annoying with some episode nooo definitly love definitly love.

i think those people today have been smashed with the truth in there face.

And i am happy about it. Mashiro x Sorata 100%. Admit defeat Nanami lovers she is OUT OF THE RACE. If you dont want to admit it go read the novel.

Besides i am happy that Sorata has clearly talked about his true feelings. he FINALY SAID THE I AM SORRY WORD THAT I WAS LOOKING FOR!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Today i am happy about the way Sorata acted. but waiting how the next episode devolops. I have episode 13 in mind. We got a very nice moment with Mashiro and Sorata but episode 14 destroyed it.

One thing that nanami is annoying man. he friendzoned herself but she still comes in between the two. i realy thought damn if she didnt came between what could have happend between Sorata and Mashiro.

Also the ones who said we didnt understand the last episode. That Sorata whas not taking it out on Mashiro. HE WAS TAKING IT OUT ON HER. He confirmed it.

Entravity 2013-03-11 20:37

Totally expected Aoyama to friendzone herself, but Sorata's confession is a nice one. Dramatic as usual but I found it to be more bearable than the last episode.

wontaek 2013-03-11 22:03

I still think Aoyama Nanami is better wife-material, but Nanami never had a chance to start with.

True. She really friendzoned herself.

Sorata really grew now.

Nice to see Rita back.

Then maybe you could enlighten all of us as to the evidence in the past that showed a romantic connection between Sorata and Shiina over the former's relationship with Nanami.

If we look purely at the interactions between Sorata and Shiina, ignoring external factors such as Shiina being the only character on the cover of every novel except volume 5.5 and such, there is not much evidence of such a connection. Jin and Misaki, even Ryuunosuke and Rita, have shown stronger romantic interactions than Sorata and Shiina have.

I think there are justifications for people to support a Nanami pairing, and just because the story ended in Shiina's favour doesn't make it inconceivable for it to have gone the other way.

thundrakkon 2013-03-11 23:24

At least the impression I got was when the Christmas episode happened, it seems like Sorata at least had a feeling that he was in love with Mashiro, and Nanami at that point also realized it. It was not so much words, but more interactions. As they say, action speaks louder than words.

Mashiro, on the other hand, has shown a lot of affection in her own way already. She gets frustrated over love for her manga and her conversations with Sorata. She even tried to do what she can't do, which is cook, so that Sorata will look her way.

As for Nanami, if you are going to hang out with a guy for 2 years and nothing happens, you are probably friendzoned already. If he was interested, he would have made a move already. But then again, this is anime, so anything is possible.

frivolity 2013-03-11 23:44

^Jin and Misaki have been hanging out for years and nothing happened until recently, but there was no friendzone between them :heh:

The way I see it, Sorata's interactions with Shiina and Nanami were around the same level. If we ignore all extraneous factors, the story could have gone either way in the sense that the author could have gone with Sorata/Nanami and it wouldn't have been completely out of left field.

Edit: What I'm referring to here is the idea that in many love triangles and harem stories, the alternative endings remain plausible even though the author chose to go for a different path. Take ToraDora for example. I was on the Taiga train all the way, and even the title itself (Tiger Dragon) bore a reference to a Taiga end, but I have seen several compelling arguments about why Ryuuji and Ami shared a unique connection that could have materialised had the latter appeared earlier in the story.

Another example would be Ichigo 100%, where the story was clearly about the main girl, and the author was pretty much pushing for an ending involving her, but commercial considerations ended up influencing a different end.
