Hi Score Girl [Netflix 12/18]
 

I was waiting to be sure it was legit, but it seems like a done deal - Hi Score Girl is getting an anime.

I've noted on previous occasions that this was always prominently displayed in bookstores, and seemed to be garnering a lot of attention in manga circles here. It took 3rd in the Manga Taishou this year and was also nominated for a Tezuka Award. Only 4 volumes but a pretty decent seller - around 100K for the most recent.

Along with Baby Steps, this makes two joyous series announcements for me (for a change). This is a very good series indeed - really funny, sharp, edgy and surprisingly deep. Rensuke Oshikiri's Pupipo! is getting a short-form anime this season and the general art style is similar, but apart from that this is a very different sort of manga.

Wow, it's finally coming. Summer 2018.

The show will premiere on Tokyo MX and BS11 on July 13 at 24:30 (effectively on July 14 at 12:30 a.m.), before airing later that evening on MBS.

Shit, I didn't even see that Netflix Japan had picked it up. That really blows - it's all down to subbers now.

only adding that this is only for Japan, there is no forecast for the release in the west, I added this because if not many people would think that we would have an episode each week iworldwide.

Anyway, this is one of the highest hyper series in the season, I think it will soon have subs.

So it's licensed in Japan but not the rest of the world? We ended up with another Saiki situation after all?

I don't see it as being as hyped as you do, but I certainly hope you're correct.

I was under the impression that they become extinct years ago.

there are still some, Back Street Girls and Baki are coming to us because of them.

Basically, it's Princess Leia hologram time for HSG fans, and hope some holdover subber living as a hermit in a cave will hear the call.

Worry do not guys, fansub will always save the day, so just wait a bit more, the first episode is always the one who take the longer to be released because they have to adjust everything (like Sunohara, first one rake a bit, second one was pretty fast).

That's assuming some group is actually subbing it. If no one does, all the episodes take exactly the same amount of time...
