Also Strike Rouge is still pretty popular, much more so than Impulse. I feel sorry for Impulse's poor sales,,, so I brought a 1/200 HCM pro version. Now it's even more mess up since it's placed among my other STRIKEs that's in 1/100 MG scale and PG 1/60 scale, along with 1/100 MG Freedom and 1/144 GFF Freedom. My 1/200 hcm pro Impulse must be screening "why don't you just kill me now":eyespin: My 1/200 HCM pro Destiny is on it's way so maybe it can even it out somewhat. Destiny took on a bunch of oversize Destroys so it should be ok , I guess. |

r the gundams on dalong.net painted? It seems they only did the outlines with a black marker
|
Most of them are done with bare minimum, they're supposed to show how they look right out of the package for the most part.
|
Dalong panels and decals his models, but otherwise assembles them out of the box.
|
he also do very very little bit of painting too,, on tiny small parts from time to time

About that chrome finish Freedom kit, there is a Gundam chrome paint marker that would go well with it. I have one of those, and it's really a good substitue for grey |

I once built HD Mazinger Z and it has shiny metal finish on the parts supposed to be white and once you took off from the runner there's no way you can hide unless you paint the whole thing - which defeat the purpose to shell out the extra for this kit when you can get cheaper non plating MC version... :( |
The Hyaku-Shiki parts are attached to the sprue at the bottom/inside of the parts? So there aren't any visible traces when you assemble it?
I've been thinking of getting one, but I wouldn't want to repaint the entire thing in gold. Ugh, painting gold. |
I have the HGUC(1/144) version of the Hyaku Shiki and to be honest, they aren't really noticable. Of course if you look closely you can tell but from a feet or two away, I can't really tell. I have taken a picture of it before but it was out of focus so it would really help.

[ok time for yet another small progress update]
I wasn't happy with the diorama base - it was too blend and had no characteristics of Gundam universe... So after bit of researching - i.e. watching few OVA DVD :p - I came up with another layout idea. here's rough drawing of the new base - sorry for messy drawing. I was in hurry :P http://img472.imageshack.us/img472/4...08428xb.th.jpg and here's the initial arrangement before I glue things down. http://img472.imageshack.us/img472/9...08413we.th.jpg |

with 1/144 scale the chogokin model is pretty good... has nice articulation as well as being chogokin has nice weight to it, not to mention great gold plating... :D ok enough OT... |

Is that supposed to be a hangar? |
well the idea was some kind of hangar but I wanted to use the bridge kit so it's bit changed to outdoor are next to the railway line... Will need to spend more time to do detailed fround work - and still waiting for the fine day with painting - been raining and cloudy for last couple of days... :(

I need abit of help.......I was watching a model making video of one of the top Gundam model makers in JPN apparentally and I noticed whenever he used poly cement on the seams he sprayed something else on it which seemed to clean the area, does anyone have an idea what it might have been?
|

which model did the guy build? that sounds realy interesting, any know what htat is? dj, nice idea abot the new layout, adds more depth to the overal dio if u ask me :) |

I also have some videos of other top builders making Gundam MK.II, Zaku and etc. they're like entire shows which take you through the entire process and shows you tons of tips for building models. Though I can't figure out what some of the stuff they use is. |
It's Alteco Spray Primer 「アルテコ スプレープライマー」
I have no idea why or how he's using it in that video. >.>; |
i got the first batch of vids, what was in the second BT batch?
|
I have ones for the Agguy, B3 Gouf, Gundam, MK.2, Qubeley, Zaku I, Dom and Sword Calamity.
The other ones are for tanks, boats and submarines. |

1/144 - HGUC(obviously :D) SD(smallest one) - Three pack Zeta set from a G-Generation series(can't remember which G-Generation) SD(bigger one) - Limited Dress up one that was released back in the early 90's I posted pics in the last model discussion thread with the Sazabi, Zaku II and Hiyaku shiki and might as well share it since its still in my photobucket account: Spoiler:
I also had Nu and Zeta(deluxe kit with musha armor and Z plus conversion) but I lost most of theose parts and left with Nu's head/helmet. |
Those are plain awesome, I haven't got any SD Gundams for a longtime, my last one was a God Gundam
EDIT: Question, I know airbrushes are always the best way to go.......but does anyone know if those canned enamel spraypaints are worth using on Gundam models? I noticed some while browsing enamel paints. Also can anyone tell me what some people I sometimes see using, which look like sticks used to skewer parts so they can dry when painted and easily painted when holding them and where I could find some? |
Quote:
if I need to paint the base quick I just use a cheap can of spray (lacquer) from hardware store... I'd expect using can of spray would be more expensive and the finish will be lot thicker than air brushing. Quote:

i'd love to see the sword calamity being built, can someone hook me up with that vid?

[yet another small update]
just finished painting zaku II... here's a shot w/o flash... http://img355.imageshack.us/img355/5296/p10508432lv.jpg and here's the one with auto flash+auto white balance ??? http://img355.imageshack.us/img355/7858/p10508479bb.jpg weathering and chipping to come later... 8) p.s. second picture will show what can go wrong with digicam without the custom setting. It was at mid night last night and I wasn't in the mood to setup the custom setting again for another shot... |
just done with initial painting of RX-78-0... :p
bit of bugger to paint as I almost spilt the bottle over the model... heh stripping and minor deatil painting followed by weathering and chipping... http://img7.imageshack.us/img7/2002/p10508502xk.th.jpg http://img7.imageshack.us/img7/2236/p10508518pf.th.jpg http://img9.imageshack.us/img9/3817/p10508576cm.th.jpg |

I think it would have looked better with a GM,
but what you have done so far is great and making a setting is even better! is for a compo, of for fun? |
half way thru the project I got sort of doing in similar scheme of TTT...
my diorama is based of pre-TTT era hence the colour scheme and bit different head... still missing all the minor details |

well I got this half finished Gundam ver 1.5 from mate of mine so really had no choice... :D No it's just for fun - and I've been working 10-20 min every night except couple of days when my cat died... If I need I should be able to finish in 2-3 days provided the weather is fine... Due to recent rain we got over here I had to delay the painting for couple of days too! |
haha this is pretty funny.... i made the striker systems awesome and they fit the PG one and i painted my ZETA really good and the camera arrived.... problem is that the camera was damaged during shipping so i cant use it (curse you fedex) and now i have to return it back to sony and wait forever for it to come again....
|
As far as the skewer sticks are concerned, just look around a supermarket for kebab sticks. Stick a bit of blu-tac on the end and you've got some nice parts holders.
And portgas - looking forward to see the pictures of your PG Strike with the Striker systems ... and to see how they fit. |
I found the bamboo skewer sticks often found at Asian grocery store is perfect - not too thin nor too thick and just right length at around 150mm... and helluva cheaper than local Woolies/Coles...
|
Hmm, I don't really keep up with Gunpla news or know if this is important.
But anyways, I was browsing HLJ.com, and I noticed that MG Wing Ver. Ka, and MG Wing Zero were discontinued.. does this mean anything? And for skewer sticks, I got a huge pack at my local crafts store for around 3 bucks. Not a bad deal, even though they require a little bit of cutting to get alligator clips to fit on. |
