@Butagami

You sir pretty much won at life:D I suggest get the HG Pink/Brown Acguy or HG 0 Gundam because it's easier to build for beginner. Perhaps for a more challenging experience get a MG Sword Impule or MG Strike Noir...

As for the file set, i think most online shop sell it for a reasonable price. Although i could be wrong, haven't buy from online shop for 3 month now..:)

Well, it's only an option. Butagami can go with those or other kits. Also, I think MG Impulse is too "intense" for a girl's first Plamo. She could get bored before she even finished it. HGs or 1/100 is perfect for a newbie like her.

Btw, I also agree with maknaedik who recommended HG Farsia ^^.

Znozzy 2012-11-18 10:19

or .. you know, let her choose one and buy it for her :)

Yea this is what you really should do, let her pick what she wants, when do guys ever know what girls want?:heh:

But is probably best to stick with a couple of HG at first just to get used to them before taking on a MG or the like, however they aren't that hard on the whole anyway.
Just depends on the person's patience and interest in the hobby really.

Exactly, you don't want to shove her things just because she shows some interest, if anything let her pick a kit and buy it for her, less hassle that way

Butagami 2012-11-18 12:01

Thanks for the tips guys, but pink isn't really her style (and her first reaction on seeing Nobell was: That's pretty gay)
We've looked around a little, and when I place an order again (poor student, so that'll take a while) She'll get the HG Throne Eins as a starter kit, and after that the Mass Production version of the MG Zaku II 2.0
Not quite what you guys expected, was it? She's pretty badass

Well if she picked the Throne Eins herself then yes very badass, that's actually one of my favorite 00 Gundam models:D

Both were her choice. I suggested the Zaku, but Eins was all her...

Nice choice xD HG Throne Eins was my first kit too rofl, some painting/touchups required but overall a very solid kit

Yup. Like I said, HGs or 1/100 is perfect for first-timer :D.

My first ever model was the HG 00 Raiser+GN Sword III. It was reasonably easy to assemble and looks beautiful. I've never built a non-grade 1/100 before: what are the runners like?

More or less the same with HGs, only bigger ;).

And typically more numerous or just as much as the bigger/more complicated HG kits

A good place to check the amount of runners is Dalong, find a kit, then find out how much parts and runners its got

Znozzy 2012-11-19 03:40

Got my Byarlant custom today :) and Dalong put his review of it up aswell, beautiful kit sofar, simple build but did i mention its beautiful?

its beautiful

...And I pity, any MS who isn't me todaaaaaaaay!

I had to pick either the Byarlant Custom or the Rozen Zulu to preorder, ended up choosing the latter. Looks like I'll have to wait to pick up the Byarlant Custom at retail.

So tempted! But I've seen reviews of the Delta Plus that the wings fall off easily due to the transformation, and I really don't like the beam cannon on the shield, but that's just me.

Sinanju Stein next year please, Bandai? :D

The Stein would indeed be awesome but personally I would like to see a MG Nightingale:D
Do think it's the only model I would like more than the Sinanju.

Hopefully they release a Sinanju Stein (despite the mould actually being quite different except fir the joints and a few parts)

As for the Delta Plus, it wasn't that loose for me (just very awkward to hold due to the binder positions)......until I broke one of the pegs partway connecting it to the back......now its hella loose.........

We had about 120 attendees,
37 of which entered 87 kits into the contest. There were also a number of display only kits too.

We are tenatively scheduled for Saturday, November 9, 2013 for next year!

i wonder, how does it even carry/fire the shield? The Delta +'s arm broke while firing the beam magnum, surely that shield has more kick than that D:

I see, yikes. Good to hear that it's not loose though. And IMO the Stein would require an entirely new mold, which is why I'm crossing my fingers on Bandai releasing it.

It broke as its rather flimsy transformable inner frame couldn't take the insane recoil of the beam magnum, not the weight.

If we're talking about the model, however... Yeah, I've read about some problems the Delta Plus had with holding its tiny shield, I don't know how the Delta Kai is going to so that. Hopefully they've improved the peg attachment.

i was referring to the Kai's design, not the kit(s) ;)

I have a question for MG Hi-Nu gundam owners

I've built so far the lower body and the klick mechanism in skirt (where the leg joints the main body tends to get stressmarks really fast when moving the legs foward and backward. To me it's a fragile design flaw, anybody else have this problem?

RX93-2 2012-11-20 12:38

My Hi-Nu legs snapped off at those points.

I fixed it, and if you have the tools I would do the same even to a new kit:
Sand down the grinding bumbs between the two hip-pieces that can be adjusted.
Pla-plate+putty+glue whatever you prefer them together as a solid piece.
Drill a hole down the now single-piece hip peg; insert tiny metal rod down the length of the shaft

Un1ver5e 2012-11-21 05:13

Woah woah!

bio9205 2012-11-21 05:13

Didn't expect to see RG Destiny that soon. Here's hoping for SF and IJ!

Wow that was a lot earlier than expected, with Destiny scheduled its only a matter of time now before SF and IJ comes along

Un1ver5e 2012-11-21 05:20

Impulse looks like a sure bet too haha.

Obelisk ze Tormentor 2012-11-21 05:38

What? RG Destiny? No RG Force or Sword Impulse first?

Tbh, I'm a bit confused with this decision. Maybe Impulse's docking-mode is still difficult to pull off in RG. Anyway, I'm cool with RG Destiny. Imo HG Destiny is already decent enough in terms of proportion and limb articulation. The lacking parts are the wings and cannon. The RG should improve it.

For those who like Perfect Strike, you can finally get the "official" one in the form of RD.

bio9205 2012-11-21 05:53

I don't care much for the Impulse. If this means we have a higher chance of getting a RG SF and IJ, then I'm all for it. :D

Of all the things Bandai could do to STEAL MY MONEY....:eek::eek:

TAKE IT!!!! AAAAAALL OF IT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Sure I've wanted a Destiny Gundam model for a while, but the HG wasn't to my liking, and I'm not much of an MG collector. So RG is PERFECT!!!

Edit:

Other future model releases -

Who wants to bet Bandai won't include the Wings of Light?

HasuMasu 2012-11-21 06:13

Infinite Justice would benefit the most from an RG out of the three.

That is, if they decide to use red...which they did with Aegis surprisingly enough.

Chiu_fan 2012-11-21 06:35

MG Jesta? Bandai has answered my prayers!:D
