Since the movie is about to be in theater in couple of days, I thought we could use a separate thread to put more focus on the discussion about this movie. Yup :P but they only did a live action of the Seikan Hikou and not an entire episode of Frontier ;)

not really. I mean everybody is expecting the same thing like me for instance. but i am also watching it for more stylish action

Is this movie supposed to have the kind of relationship to the series that Frontier considers DYRL to have relative to the original Macross - in other words, an in-universe movie based on their own series of events?

Somewhat :) It's a mix of old scenes from the TV series + new footage specially made for the movie. They also changed/tweaked some character relationships. You should check out the movie discussion thread about this.
