Well that was one hell of an episode.

Episode felt slightly rushed. I do feel bad for Mikumo being used in a way that she felt uncomfortable with. The Hayate confession to Freyja though...who didn't see this coming? Lol. Same with Mirage's confession to Hayate.

Finally, they sung the first OP song again. WALKURE FOR LIFE.
Lol Bogue saving them Also, Chuck's sister is alive! Nice.

Not bad for the finale.

Omfg I don't know what to write that was one hell of a episode. I'll agree with you that it felt rushed, Stark700. And even though I am extremely happy about one certain thing - the ending is kinda like ???

Now onwards the most important thing to me: HAYATE AND FREYJA CONFESSED TO EACH OTHER, FUCK YEAH! But why no kisu?! Just jk, I really loved it, especially when they hugged <3
And Keith died together with Roid while taking him out, their friendship was really deep. Their runes also touched and they delivered themselves one fine swordfight. Bogue blushed while saving Walküre :D

Walküre rocked in this episode, Mikumo is back in the boat and Makina arrived at the stage to sing together with them!

It was really one hellfest, especially when Mikumo sang Oboete Imasuka and started to connect the whole universe - damn, that was intense!

Roid turning traitor. HayaFre confession. Windies/Walkure/Delta platoon joining forces. Mikumo being saved. Mikumo singing Ai Oboete Imasuka. Keith dying destroyed my heart though.

BUT. HOLY....THAT WAS ONE HELL OF A CONFESSION. That's the power of love for you. But ah, no kiss....

Overall the episode felt rushed but I think it had a good end. I'm happy.

Roid is Grace 2.0 with his Hivemind scheme. Mikumo brainwashes the cluster with Do You Remember Love... In Protoculture.
Note: If you are not Lynn Minmay don't sing that song as those who sung it other than her don't go right. Mylene makes some Meltrans go berserk. Ranka Galaxy hologram mind controls the Vajra. Mikumo controls Sub-Protoculture races.

No evidence it goes beyond the cluster as no Earth or Eden.

To emphasize that Windy's are like Vajra drones their Drakens turn white.

Having been betrayed Heinz works with the enemy... For now. Not that he can do anything as he is trapped like everybody else.

Roid's plan gets ruined thanks to Freyja's determination and the three way teenage confessions going around.

Keith joins Delta squad in taking down Roid as they rescue Mikumo who has been unbrainwashed. I know Kawamori always wanted a sword wielding VF but he finally did it with the SV-262Hs Draken. Keith kills Roid with his sword but is engulfed with him in the following explosion.

In the war over? Not really as Heinz the, little shit, still wants to continue it. They just retreat back to Windermere as the cluster is freed during the fight from mind control. Turns out grandpa cat leader was right. Wait for them to die to out. Heinz doesn't have long. Keith is gone. No line of succession. Heinz can't sell mind control anymore to Windermere's people as they've experienced it. Using it means civil war. Windermere doesn't have the industrial capacity to conquer the galaxy. Epsilon probably said goodbye to them with a thank you note for the data.
Also super fold drives negate their Fold Fault protection. I'm sure surrounding planets will start buying them for protection and maybe payback.

Oh Mariane is alive and so is Scarcat.

Hayate and Freyja fly off in a cramp cockpit as Mirage watches from below.

I loved this episode. Still got the feels from that HayaFre confession.

Although there were a lot of open-ended questions like the identity of Lady M, if Freyja will ever find a way to extend her life, the fate of the Windermerans, Arad and Kaname etc. I still loved every moment of this episode.
Though I do think they might end up releasing a director's cut of the episode like they did with Aquarion EVOL, so they might address some of these questions then.

I do feel a bit sorry for Mirage, but I'll be glad if she moves on from this and becomes a stronger person.

Pretty cute right, but you know what, when i saw this scene, it just remind me how they wasted episode 14 for stupid fanservice, a better writer would already use this kind of episode for Mirage's past with bunch of Jenius showing up.

That said, I called it on Mikumo: She hears Freyja singing and Freyja pulls her onto their side again; and it's so beautiful how she's crying as she joins them in song, I believe her VA did a good job at conveying her emotions in this episode! She is, of course, rescued by Mirage.

Then, a Makina and Reina suggestive scene confirmation (?) it's ambiguous; however, Makina joins them in singing and holds onto Reina for a majority of the episode so... confirmed (?). Regardless, Bogue saves both and is like "this is a one-time thing" (it's not direct translation, it's in how he blushes :heh:).

Roid is straight up an ass (pardon my language) because of how he believes his goal is right and everyone is supposed to follow, and his exposition... sigh ...you know, of all the times for a big complaint about Delta's writing, this is one. His exposition is all things we learned in episode 19... so literally, if they'd saved said exposition for this episode (or prior episode), it'd feel less "you're an idiot, we're filling your head with obvious information"; I know it's an anime and all the other characters don't know it but in an episode which is pushing its limits already... it's kind of over the top. :uhoh:

On Keith... Thess, your boy did as you anticipated! ;)
And it's a cool scene, too! Is not as flashy as Brera but I'll live with it.

Heinz finally assumes control of his Aerial Knights and goes against Roid! It's a little late... but I'll live with it because he's a kid and he finally grasps how dire his situation is (not only for singing but his people in general).

No conclusive Arad/Kaname/Messar love triangle confession so I'll grasp it's been answered in the previous episode with their friendly salute... It's okay, she'll move on and singing is who she is, ultimately.

Tak, she's alive: Fish girl is alive! (Don't remember her name, LOL.) And Chuck goes home to her waiting for him. She's injured but is alive!

As for our main triangle...
Confessions from all three! Hayate and Freyja love each other; Mirage loves Hayate... all of this we knew last week (more than obvious); however, I like how Mirage is supportive of their love and also gains her "golden wings" in this episode. So what if she's not a winner for the love triangle? Her biggest scene in this episode shows how she's grown as a pilot: Rescuing Mikumo alongside Hayate and downright kicking ass! I'm satisfied with how she pulls herself together for this final episode (even if it'll still be coming off as bad writing for her development in this second half). I also like mini Mirage in a plane learning to pilot for the first time (seriously, she's cute!).

Everyone gained their wish on no magical cure for the Windermere lifespan; however, doesn't bother Hayate (who learns of her crystallization in the last minute and basically says "we'll always be together"). Their confessions are so beautiful but no kiss, however, I'll live with the Valkyrie into the sky scene at the end (because HayaFre gains the "fly through the sky" AruSherri did not in Frontier).
I love how their buildup has been for this series because everyone is trolled by believing Mirage won; because it's ironically foreshadowed when Mirage first said HayaFre could be like her grandparents... I never believed a Macross could be so straightforward on foreshadowing a canon pairing... it's never happened in prior series' in the franchise :eyebrow: but I'm glad because for once a pairing I liked / shipped in a Macross series won! And it's breaking the normal Macross tradition of "older girl wins", which is something I hoped for since Frontier!

why is the Japanese Twitter blowing up with people claiming a "movie production" will be coming? :eyebrow: No signs on the website of this...

Is it bad that, in the end, I found myself happier with sensei-cat alive and well?

That confession though...

Eh, I was right they rehashed the ending of Frontier.
