If you're asking when CR will stream it, their PR says that it'll start this Friday, Oct 7, 10 PM Pacific Time. So presumably it air in Japan some time before then.

kuromitsu 2016-10-06 14:57

It has already aired in Japan.

I think I saw somewhere that the simulcast would be 1.5 days after it aired or something like that, accounting for the above mentioned release date.

kuromitsu 2016-10-06 15:22

I'm watching the episode, and granted I'm only at the beginning, but...

...what the hell is Kobayashi Yuu doing? Seriously, wtf??! Who even thought this was a good idea? :/ Whoever instructed her to do this performance (or was okay with her idea of this performance) has no idea what makes Kae funny. Or hell, at this point, I wonder if they understand what makes the manga itself funny. This is not funny, this is just bad all-around. And yes yes, I know she's probably going to stop doing it once she becomes slim but ugh, that makes it even worse and borderline offensive.

No, cross that - this is actually offensive. :/ GDI, staff.

ETA:

"That voice... is that you, Kae?"

Yeah, that line totally didn't work. WTF was the staff even thinking?

As for the rest of the episode (that I've finished now)...
Spoiler for episode 1 overall opinion:

I really hope the rest of the show will be better, because this manga is so funny in a tongue-in-cheek Relatable Otaku Life Experiences way, and I really don't want to drop the anime or have to see people hate on the manga because of it. Also anime about girl otaku (BL or otherwise - basically girls who aren't male fantasies of what female otaku should be like) is so rare, it would be a shame if this one, which is based on a pretty authentic (if of course somewhat exaggerated, haha) manga, ended up a dud.

This.... has no right to be this amusing. It was fun...

Kobayashi Yuu can do so many funny voices. I love it. The fat girl voice was hillarious.

drawr 2016-10-07 06:27

So a fat fujoshi becomes jaw droppingly gorgeous due to shock and now has a harem simply for being hot and not actually changing in anyway. Couldn't find the shallowness and wish-fulfillment funny personally.

DmonHiro 2016-10-07 07:14

Actually, this is the exact type of show tubmlr would complain about all day, if they knew about it. Which, to be honest, makes it even funnier.

As for the show, the production values are a little sub par, but I'm loving the designs and the facial expressions. I also liked that even before slimming down, people were nice to Kae.

That's not supposed to be the funny part (also while the "got slim, got pretty, got a harem" thing is iffy, for what it's worth it'll get addressed in the story, and then it's basically just there for the setup and gets all but forgotten later on).

Also, tbh I think Shima is a lot more of a wishfulfillment than any of the guys.
Spoiler for Shima-chan:

I haven't seen the episode yet, only read the first chapter of the manga and I'm interested because it looks fun. The wish fulfilment doesn't apply much to me so I didn't even think of it, but about that... these days "wish fulfilment" is often thrown around as a huge criticism to a lot of manga/anime. It basically boils down to "these guys are losers and this show is tailored to make them feel like they're awesome while they really are still losers" (apply to otakus or fujoshi depending on the show). But here's the thing - I understand disliking the idea of these things feeding into people's personal bubbles, but at what point it stops being that and it becomes simply deciding that since we consider these guys "unworthy" they need to lift themselves up from their own bootstraps or eat all the shit they get without even the chance to fantasise a bit about by imagining themselves in the shoes of an anime character? Sometimes it just borders into an anime equivalent of the typical "poor people really are just lazy" argument. There are also people with crippling social anxiety that won't simply "get over it" if you shut down their animu and kick them out of their houses. So, in that situation, certain more innocuous forms of wish fulfilment maybe can actually give you a little motivation and make you feel a little better about yourself. I understand being worried when wish fulfilment is all focused around the idea of "YEAH, NOW YOU'LL SHOW'EM!", on violent revenge and power fantasies and such, but simply dreaming of having the other sex fawn over you seems as simple a fantasy as there can be for someone who for example is so shy they can't even speak with a boy/girl.

so is this a parody of fujioshi or something? I started reading the manga but the only tolerable character so far is the dude that's still friendly with her after she loses the weight.

They're thinking with their dicks of course which is why I still can get to like them that much compared to sempai.

What is there to change? She was already good to begin with.

There are "fat" people who are beautiful out there you know.

Author draws a lot of yaoi. I think there are some of her works out there available to read.

The first episode was really good, I used to have some serious doubts about Kobayashi but now all of them are gone, she did an incredible and hilarious job here.

Also... how everyone dares to not pick Mutsumi-senpai!
