"The Middle East's first anime"
 

The production company, Alter Ego, was founded in Abu Dhabi. I think it is pretty cool that some anime inspired animation is coming from the Middle East.

It actually looks great, just need to get used to the voices, which sounds nice enough. Especially that hot blooded TORKAIZEEEEEEER! that just really NAILS it :eek:

Hoping they do get a publisher for this series though. France managed to do some anime-styled titles, so why not this?

The random Japanese was an unusual surprise though :heh:

I posted this in Laugh a Day thread sometimes ago. Didn't think somebody would actually notice this.

I'm happy with this, but I kinda lament that this happens before my Ottoman mechas idea :/

And this is a very good step in the right direction. Finally, this kills the very notion that "anime has to be produced in Japan".

Nice trailer, and I have to tell you... The only thing this Middle-Eastern anime needs is a refinement from Japan. (with potential crossover and marketing to other countries other than Japan)

But anime does have to be produced in Japan. Anime is a fan name for Japanimation.

Anyways this looks cool and I hope it is a success for them.

No, even someone like me does not consider it to be anime... although, it is the closest thing to anime from America -- so far.

Actually, maybe that new Thundercats series. But I haven't bothered to watch it yet.

I can't wait for them to name the characters as Musa, Isa, Ishak, Daud, Sulaiman, Yunus, Yusuf, Ya'kob and Nuh.

Well Japan pretty much stared with Mecha leading the way in the 60s ("Astro Boy", "Gigantor" etc); so I'd say they are off to a good start in this regard.

I usually find most anime-ish cartoons to be choppy at times (at least the Asian cartoons outside of Japan looks more astounding), but this one proves that Middle East has some capability at animating anime-ish productions with great skills ! The fact that my parents comes from North Africa suggests that I really need to watch this, and it will be even better if it actually airs on television instead of being a stalled production !

I'd question how "middle eastern" any company in Dubai really is, especially when their website is in English.

That said, I liked what I saw in the preview, though I found the spoken language a bit jarring (and I've read somewhere that the dialect used is a strange choice, due to limited understanding in the Arab world; though with no real knowledge of dialects and languages spoken there, and this being the internet....).

I also fail to see how this is any more "cartoony" than virtually any existing anime today. :heh:

Oh hey, it's not bad at all, especially when it's Middle East's first anime. Voice acting needs some polishing, but on the whole, a commendable attempt. The random Jap is a surprise though. Are they paying homage to Japanese anime? heh

That or that character is suppose to be Japanese. Some mecha expert or military/corperate advisor on drivable giant robots (as that is almost always a Japanese thing now in fiction).

This one looks more of an anime than avatar...

Y'know. If there's one thing Japanese animators are horrid at, it's emulating "foreigners". :heh: It was very apparent when I watched their rendition of X-Men.
