sweet news. After some amagami then this. Great

bakAnki 2012-11-26 11:30

Great news indeed :D Hope this will be omnibus format like Amagami too :D
Wonder which story will they pick, I personally like story H(appy) better than L(ove).

Bummed that the new game will be on Vita though. I really want to play the Love Love Days scenario; story after confession is always nice X3

Nachtwandler 2012-11-26 11:38

I liked both KimiKiss and Amagami so definitely will watch this. But it's quite untypical show for Madhouse

kyouray 2012-11-26 15:39

Finally Akitoshi Yokoyama got a series... but I didn't expect this :heh:
This veteran is such a talented animator (what a coincidence, someone just did a MAD! thanks to AnimeBlue) who animated nice stuff in great series and worked a lot in recent years with Masaaki Yuasa and directed great episodes (his episodes are always worth watching). I looked forward to watching action/'serious' stuff directed by him for Madhouse so I'm kinda disappointed but that can't be helped.
It's not like I hate this kind of series since I really enjoyed Kimikiss and somehow Amagami (it depended on the girl :p ).
However I know he can bring great stuff with this kind of content, I would have been sceptical if I hadn't watched his episode of Idolm@ster (18).

duckroll 2012-11-26 17:48

The question is, can he also write? Because he's handling series composition here as well. Lol.

Nachtwandler 2012-11-26 18:51

duckroll

He can. He worked as episode director, episode scriptwriter and animator before.

MAX_COLA_POWER! 2012-11-26 18:58

Dating sim or not, I think I'd enjoy this series. I saw Amagami, although I confess I was mostly for the shy kohai and the MCs chubby childhood friend-v-, but I gotta say, I really enjoyed it :).

Guardian Enzo 2012-11-26 19:32

Excellent cast, strong director/writer, Madhouse. Don't known the source material, but I'm in.

sky black swordman 2012-11-26 20:31

The cast looks great and loved Amagami(Mainly because Ai, Tsukasa, and Haruka).
A must watch for me. :)

Insane 2012-11-26 21:31

Why does everyone compare this series with Amagami of all titles, i wonder?

Snuffle 2012-11-26 22:08

Beautiful artwork! I look forward to this one. I'm also a fan of Kimi Kiss and Amagami. :D Will have to check out the manga, already took a sneak peak at it. ;)

bakAnki 2012-11-26 22:16

Since the casts are so far same with the original game, you can hear what they sound as their respective character, along with the description and information of the characters (if you can read Japanese :heh:), from the sample voice preview on the official site:

Both Amagami and Photo Kano are adapted from love simulation game published by Enterbrain?

Midonin 2012-11-26 22:50

I think the anime may be the best way for me to experience this. The game's cel-shaded 3D style just doesn't do it for me. 2D girls are much cuter in 2D.

DragoonKain3 2012-11-27 00:06

Hoping it's not omnibus... *crosses fingers*

bakAnki 2012-11-27 05:26

TBS official site for Photo Kano is up. Nothing new though :heh:

Here's a picture of all heroines listed on the cast (except the MC and Ootani Momoko) taken from Photo Kano Pentaprism Memory novel for an idea how they look.

We still have to wait how many episodes this will be.

With many heroines, if it's only one cour then it probably focus on one girl (and most probably Haruka :heh:) with other heroines show up here and there with part of their story taken. But if it's two-cour, then it's possible to have omnibus format.

Then again, Photo Kano has bigger number of total heroines compared to Amagami, so if they want to cover the secret heroines too, each heroine will probably only have 3 episodes.

Insane 2012-11-27 05:34

Again, why on earth majority of harem anime nowadays tend to get voiced by newbie (non-popular male seiyuu), while his harem consist of senior female seiyuus?

bakAnki 2012-11-27 07:35

Nylon, the mangaka of Photo Kano Your Eyes Only posted the congratulation art work for the anime adaptation on Twitter and Pixiv :3

Isn't it obvious enough? Harem anime is targeted for male viewers so it's only logical to budget money for popular female seiyuus to attract the target audience better, since only few cares about the male lead except he's really stand out/different than typical harem lead :heh:

Guardian Enzo 2012-11-27 09:13

Actually, the seiyuu cast as the male lead here is not only born within a decade of the year his character is supposed to be, but he's been excellent in his few roles so far. Any series that doesn't recycle the same half-dozen 30 or 40-something seiyuu who sound increasingly silly playing teenagers like almost every other series does has a step up in my book.

How many Heroines? including added bonus or special ones or hidden ones or just plain not main heroines :heh: :heh:

11 :heh:

6 main heroines, 3 secret heroines, and 2 sub-heroines that have their own story and ending. Though these 2 sub-heroines weren't listed yet on cast part, so I don't think their story will be adapted (if this indeed an omnibus like Amagami).

NoemiChan 2012-11-29 07:50

Interesting!!!!

judasmartel 2012-11-30 00:59

Hmm... Kanae Itou sure gets cast in a lot of anime nowadays. At least she's not as pigeonholed as a tsundere seiyuu than say, KugiRie (though I heard KugiRie's been out of the pigeonhole for quite a while now).

Familiar voices here include those of Kaori Mizuhashi (Minami Shimada from Baka Test), Mariya Ise (I only know her as Miyu / Chibi-Ribbon from Ro-Kyu-Bu!), and Aya Endo (SKY RAKER!!!)

Plus a fairly interesting MC (how many eroge MC's out there genuinely want to become a photographer instead of just doing it in order to score pics of hot chicks?), considering most eroge MC's are as flat as you can get. Definitely a must-see.

bakAnki 2012-11-30 04:24

^Well, Photo Kano is never been an eroge, it's a galge/love simulation. It doesn't have any H scene, only a few fan-service-y. As far as I remember it doesn't even have panty-shot scene on the story event. Even on the cliche divine-wind gift event, the game don't show you the panties XD

Though when on free/photo session mode combining certain pose we asked and angle, we could see (and took picture of) the girl's panties. The manga on the other hand.... :heh:

judasmartel 2012-11-30 04:40

Oh, so that's what it is. I wondered if those things in the manga were also present in the game. Guess I was wrong, huh?

tsunade666 2012-11-30 11:37

If I'm right this is not a pc game right?.
This is a handheld game ? and I haven't encountered yet a handheld game that is an eroge or has h-scenes. Certain cases are eroge turn into galge or remove the h-scens to be played in handheld games.

Nachtwandler 2012-11-30 13:19

tsunade666

All console VNs are all ages. This one is for PSP. Some PSP VNs are 18+ but not much. And this is a "date-sim". 99% of date-sims are all ages

bakAnki 2012-12-07 12:19

Not a news for the anime, but I guess it won't hurt to post this :heh:

On Dec 20th, Photo Kano Kiss AR, an augmented reality app, will be released for PSVita. By using this app, you can make Haruka appears on the photo you took with your PSVita...

And more info about the upcoming Photo Kano Kiss. The new after-confession story, the Love Love Days, will have more than 10000 voiced lines on more than 300 new scenes. The point of this new story is to increase the affection of your girlfriend on the weekend date, if you succeed you'll get new ending scene.

This new part will also has "Love Love Touch", where on the photo session you can touch certain body parts of your girlfriend to get different reaction for more possible pictures ^^;;

Damn straight.

Omnibus takes out all the fun in these sorts of shows, I really hope the superior sales of Amagami compared to Kimikiss doesn't mean this follows suit... Would kill for a decent triangle....

tsunade666 2012-12-08 14:53

I also don't like omnibus. It kills the fun because you know what will happen in the end depending on the arc. it kills the thrill of character development and sudden twist.

Westlo 2012-12-09 00:36

Well 9/10 we know what will happen anyway in the typical format... but it's those 1/10 situations that leave you guessing that are the ones you really enjoy.

bakAnki 2012-12-11 12:47

January 2013 edition of Earth Star, monthly comic magazine that publishes Photo Kano Memorial Pictures manga, confirmed the anime will be aired on April 2013...

Another spring anime. Spring are full of good anime next year.

Snuffle 2012-12-16 12:01

I guess I'm one of the few people that enjoy omnibus format. It's like watching a show with your favorite character(s) and weeding out the ones you don't care about. I really like how Amagami did this since there were 2 (maybe 3) characters I didn't care for. Not only that, every girl wins in the end. For me, it's a nice feeling of closure.

It depends on who you're focusing on. For the protagonist and maybe main one or two heroines, sure. For the rest, omnibus is better than getting no development at all.

bakAnki 2012-12-17 11:18

I also prefer omnibus format. Even if we know/can guess what will happen in the end, what makes the story fun most of the time is the process/what happen in between; and also for me personally, the after-story (this is why I really wanted to buy Vita to play the upcoming PK Kiss, for the after-confession stories >.>)

Beside, with large number of heroines Photo Kano has, and 6 of them have 2 different stories each, it's kinda let down if they don't do omnibus. But that if this one a 2-cour :heh:

Btw, found a fan art, "Package Heroines"...

sky black swordman 2012-12-17 20:07

^ I'm with you, on the omnibus format.

Also I will take a "Package Heroines" with Morishima Haruka in it ! :heh:

tsunade666 2012-12-18 05:12

Omnibus format is pretty linear for me to like it though I like the arc for the girls I like in Amagami. Everyone was given time to shine but.... its pretty "I can see the ending" already which also took the fun away.
