You are way too fixated on the revenge aspect of the story. For me I like how they concluded that issue with a misunderstanding and not because Aki was really a bitch back then. I can understand what you're getting at though. Once the revenge plot was resolved there was really nothing more interesting in the story and it felt like the Author kept dragging the romance issue.
