Another Celebrity Gone.

Billy Mays, the TV pitchman whose trademark voice helped sell everything from cleaning supplies to baking soda, was found dead this morning by his wife at his Tampa home. No cause of death has been reported and no foul play is suspected, according to Tampa police. Mays, 50, was pronounced dead at 7:45 a.m. at 2853 Bowen Daniel Dr., #1201. His wife, Deborah Mays, found him unresponsive this morning. The Medical Examiner's Office will complete Mays' autopsy by tomorrow afternoon. "Although Billy lived a public life, we don't anticipate making any public statements over the next couple of days," Deborah Mays said in a statement today. "Our family asks that you respect our privacy during these difficult times." Mays was a passenger Saturday of a 737 airplane that had a front tire blow out, said spokeswoman Brenda Geoghagan. Mays and other passengers were interviewed by US Airways staff after the Philadelphia flight's hard landing. Responders reported no injuries. "Tampa Fire (Rescue) reported no injuries. Nobody asked for treatment," Geoghagan said. "Some of the passengers said they had bruises." Mays was one of the stars of "Pitchmen," a Discovery Channel documentary series that focused on Mays' claim to fame: inventions and infomercials. http://img229.imageshack.us/img229/2...8020515.th.jpg This week fucking sucks. I know this man was not big or well-known as Michael Jackson, but this is depressing. That is 5 celebrities in ONE MONTH. |
woah what? Billy Mays is dead!? what is this world coming to!?
|
Has Vince been brought in for questioning yet? We already know he has a temper.

wow, why is everyone dying at age 50 now..?
|
Don't even know this man but, RIP.
Why's everyone dying? :twitch: |
Not Billy Mays!!!!!
but it does seem suspicious for some reason  |
This bothers me so much more than Michael Jackson. RIP Billy Mays, late night television will never be the same.

Many people die everyday. The fact that 5 celebrities died this week doesn't make me any more depressed than the knowledge that many fathers, mothers, and siblings due every day.

I wonder if we should grow beards in memory of Billy Mays. Or buy lots of Oxy Clean. |
What a creepy coincidence that I spent all night last night watching Billy Mays commercials. >_> R.I.P Mays, and I have to agree that this affected me more than Michael Jackson's death.
Something is wrong with 2009... |
Might've wanted to put his name in the thread title...also pretty messed up but true...

NOOOOO!!!!!!!!! Who's going to scream at the cameras about Oxy-clean now?! :(
|
listens too "another one bites the dust" song
|
To be honest, I've never heard of Billy Mays in my life :heh:
But he seems like a prominent part of US TV culture so I send my condolences and hope he also rests in peace :) |
Damn... I rather liked the recent commercial ads where Bill has everyone in the ad trying to deliver their testimonial the way he pitches ..... loudly.
Yeah, he was mostly an American iconic advert figure -- but projected a pleasantness that made him likeable (and often parodied in comedies). |

Sadly, they already found a replacement. I call him Billy Jr., because the only difference is a blonde hair. :p
I'm a bit curious of the way he died. Looking at his frame, he looked fit and healthy, so the hit had to be really hard or something knacked in his head. |
