First episode is officially out now.

Good episode, it definitely sets up for the main journey to Antarctica and I feel like it's going to be about more than just a journey.

The two main characters, Kobuchizawa and Mari, has some neat character chemistry. I really like how Mari came to get to help out Kobuchizawa when she was being made fun of. Feels like they can become good friends. Regarding Kobuchizawa, I want to learn about her more.

The music and animation are solid so far. I like the smoothness of the OST as it feels alive and adds a bit of energy to the show.

Well the new season's got off to a good start as I really enjoyed this one. I liked the characters and the premise, so I look forward to following their journey.

Loved the first episode.

Easily portrayed setup, fun characters, very crisp character designs, and the attention to detail in backgrounds and text on books and writing is very good.

Million yen girl should stop carrying her money everywhere if she could easily lose it like that.

That was a good start. The main character is a pretty understandable and likable person. Plenty can probably relate both to letting time slip away and getting nervous about doing something new. Sometimes a bit of help and a push is needed. Harder for her to back off about starting on this adventure if she has someone who expects something from her. Though to be fair her other friend was pretty supportive of her skipping school for a day :).

That was a nice start to it. The show looks good and the technical aspects seem nicely done. Though I can't possibly relate to wanting to go to Antartica....it's been so crazy cold the past week (hitting -40°C at times) that willingly going into severely cold places seems madness :heh:. But hey, it's their journey so they can do what they want.

This looks interesting. I'm kind of disappointed that her friend Megu doesn't make an appearance in the OP, though: she seems like fun and I'd like to keep her around.

Is this actually a "cute girls doing cute things" show? So far the only "cute thing" has turned out to be a daydream. The rest of it plays like a regular (melo)drama series that's grounded in reality, completely unlike K-on or Girls und Panzers.

Liking this on the basis of the first episode, I will see if it endures.

BTW travelling on the Nozomi shinkansen isn't cheap. A one-way ticket to Hiroshima from Shinagawa near Tokyo is the thick end of 19,000 yen (and I think they start out from Gunma north of Tokyo?). Getting home again is the same.

Just spent some time freeze-framing -- the ticket she puts into the barrier ticket scanner is definitely Shinagawa-Hiroshima but the price printed on it is 12,410 yen basic fare plus 6,380 yen express surcharge, a total of 18,790 yen. I'd guess there's been a price rice recently...

It got pretty bad at times :uhoh:. Luckily that was as bad as it got and the temperature has risen to a comparatively balmy -5C.

It is a bit of a shame that it doesn't look like her friend will be going along. She seems pretty likable :). Maybe not the type that is thinking about doing that kind of extreme traveling, but a good friend.

Yeah, it looks like a plot-driven adventure rather than a CGDCT slice of life, but it's hard to say after only one episode.

That's practically a heat wave compared to the -5 F (-20 C) I experienced this morning. :heh:

Depends on where in Antarctica you're talking about. The Amundsen-Scott South Pole Station is -24C at the moment. Concordia Station, on top of what's known as Dome C, is -27C.

Also, a point to keep in mind. It is summer in Antarctica right now. Head out to Concordia Station in July and you'll experience some nice, brisk -80C temperatures on average.

There needs to be a support group for her character type.

Megumi (from Food Wars): So there I am, three seasons as the biggest secondary character in the series, and suddenly the blonde bimbo with huge boobs gets some character development and nobody cares about me anymore.

Okuda (from AssClass): You think that's bad. My whole character is defined as being the nerd science girl. Then we have an episode where we have to send somebody to the International Space Station to perform an experiment. Who do you think they pick. Just, guess.

Megumi (from Uchuu Yorimo...): Not you?

Okuda: Damn right it's not me.

Megumi (UY): I know how that is. My best friend took a trip to Antarctica with three other girls, left me behind.

Tsukimi (Princess Jellyfish): Yeah, it's like one time a really handsome guy was trying to tear my apartment down, but his even cuter brother helped me open a fashion line to earn money to save the building. But I don't even like fashion. What's up with that.

Okuda: Who invited her?

Megumi (Food Wars): I dunno, but I kinda wanna kill her.

Megumi (UY): I think that would be wrong, but I can't disagree.
