Alto is not Jenius level anyway...

Alto's number is up at some point. He can't keep going through battles with his emotional charge of the light brigade each and every time and expect to not be taken down eventually. He may have the natural skills but he has zero patience or tactical observation. He's been lucky so far. It's about time someone spanks the kid down a notch.

To tell the truth Alto got shot down in episode 7, within the Vajra battlecruiser.

You'd think after losing so many VFs, he'd learn a lesson :p

I've been counting man, and by the end of this series, I will not be surprised if he trashed more than a dozen or more VFs in the process ;)

Tis is true but he was still a hero because he got the little guy out of there. So it technically wasn't a failure.

True. They should charge his ass for all the downed VFs. Teach him a little financial lesson.

No I'm waiting for him to be shot out of the sky or out of space, where it happens, and have him actually fail miserably at whatever "mission" he may be on and then have to get bailed out. Probably by Ozma or Klan Klan.

Now now, lets give the kid some credit. For a Macross protagonist, he is definitely becoming a good pilot.

Sheryl finally steps aside for Ranka to shine. This is to be expected, as she held the spotlight over Ranka for the first half. Poor Sheryl. This is definitely Ranka's episode though, the girl definitely deserves it.

Looks like the second half of the series will now cast Sheryl in Ranka's shoes now.

I must admit I dont watch enough anime yet.. so I have to say, this week rescue mission is on the same WTFness level as hijacking someone else bride with a gundam :D

Ranka's counterattack! The episode was pretty silly though. The end was great. I feel for Sheryl, but as a fan I'm glad it happened. She can't keep winning every episode.

Yeah, Sheryl does take a huge hit in this episode, but the tidbit about her wanting to get out of her sickbed so that she could fulfill the promise of letting Alto fly in a real sky was nice. Still, she was bound to fall eventually and her fall at this point gives hope to a good ending.

And I wonder what Grace is after since it seems that she was the one who tipped off the Ally Killer about Alto's prison break attempt.

P.S. The title for the next ep is Memory of Global.

So any ideas what the heck it is doing out here? It doesn't look like a New Macross class either. Did the early Megaroads have Macross class escorts? Or is it the wreck of Battle Galaxy? (We never did get to see what the Galaxy or Frontier flagships look like)

While I think the "race" is still wide open, this early "getting together" of AltoXRanka does bode well for a later AltoXSheryl pairing.

BTW, was it really Khyron... errrr, Quamzin?
