Corpse Party: Tortured Souls -The Curse of Tortured Souls- (コープスパーティー Tortured Souls ―暴虐された魂の呪叫― Kōpusu Pātī Tōchādo Sōruzu -Bōgyakusareta Tamashī no Jukkyō-?) is an upcoming original video animation (OVA) anime series and animated adaptation of Corpse Party. It will be released on July 24, 2013.
The series consists of four episodes which can be purchased either in two boxed DVD sets for a total of 6,090 Yen ($61 USD) or one Blu-ray box for 16,590 Yen ($167 USD). The first volume DVD contains Episodes 1 and 2, the second volume DVD contains Episodes 3 and 4, and Blu-ray Disc BOX contains all four Episodes plus bonuses.


Synopsis: The anime ova will cover the first chapter of the PSP game.

Because the main appeal for this series is the gore and violence and TV format will tone it down to death?

..It's like they're killing everyone in that trailer. I'd imagine they're making an original bad end where everyone really do end up dead before

Bloody NO.. This is what scares me of Japanese animation... if it should have gore....it will really have gore...

All four episodes will only cover the first chapter? I haven't heard anything about this anywhere else, and was under the belief that they were somehow going to try to rush the story in four episodes (assuming they're normal length), but if they're going to actually adapt all five chapters like this, that sounds beyond amazing! I won't get my hopes up, though I suppose they -could- adapt the whole thing in four episodes if they went the 'kill-everyone' route, but...I feel like we'd be missing out on story there, and that's no fun!

The ovas will be released by tomorrow.

Well, time to see these kids all suffer again. Poor Naomi though seems to suffer the most in the material that isn't the games. Wonder why they love using her as the sandbag to punch around.

I know yuri fans wont be happy with Naomi since she likes the main character, a guy, over Seiko.

Haven't played this game, but herd alot about it. Since I'm a horror fan, I'll watch this. :)

Todays its the release. I can't bloody wait.

Some guys who have watched it said that the combined length of all 4 OVAs are almost 2 hours

They'd be right about that, each set (2 eps) runs about 58 mins. So the total run time is close to 2 hours and believe me there really is no episode cut off and it plays out more like a movie.

and for plot stuff


Over all people are going to find it hit or mess, the gore is there and well it lives it up how vivid the text in game was. The plot on the other hand... let's just leave that up to who ever watches it.

Well, it's not terrible but it definitely isn't good either. Obviously they mostly cared about Torture Porn. No time to sink the atmosphere in, no time to get to know the cast. It's just rushing from one scare to the next big scene. The 2nd episode alone covered chapters2-3 completely and even incorporated parts of 4-5. Wut? Nothing leaves much of an impression. Just to give one example,


On the upside I thought episodes 3&4 were rather well done for the finale but, without a proper setup, there's only so much you can accomplish. This tells me Tortured Souls could've been a good adaptation if only they had 2 episodes more in the middle for developing the story and characters so I'd care.

Oh well.

tldr: play the game before you get spoiled by this animu.
