Anime MMORPG Suggestions

I want to start playing one, and I like customizeability. I also like the cutesy animeish look. The larger(game areas/worlds) the better. Something along the lines of ROSE Online, but with more of a veriety of outfits/weapons/classes.

Can anyone suggest something? I apologize to the mods if this thread don't belong here. Thanks.

You can try Yogurting - http://www.yogurting.jp/

Catch is that it's in Japanese. Though I've spotted a few english users on my server...

Other than that, there's Ragnarok Online - http://iro.ragnarokonline.com/

and Maple Story - http://www.mapleglobal.com/

I'm completely Japanese illiterate, but I'll try it... thanks:)

It looks promising(especially from the banner), though is there more classes than just mage-class stereotypical witches(because of the brooms)?

Marvel 2006-08-20 17:11

hmm..... maybe Ragnarok, another Korean MMORPG.
It has nice graphics and plays good, the world is big and you can customize your character.

there are at the moment 4 classes:

mage (wiz uses staff or wand)
merc (warrior -uses axe or sword)
assist (has healin with a stick and great combat weap calld a knuckle O.O <<<< my main char)
acrobats (can be an archer or a yoyo thrower)

after level 60 u can change class ~ each class can go 2 difffernt paths specialising in 1 of the 2 weaps they can use.

the brooms/boards r jus for travelling -- its a great experience too, at level 20 u can start to fly around to explore the worlds

the highest lvl player is about 115 or 120 or something (not sure)

i am at the moment lvl 75 LOL...

it's highly addictin and has a cash shop similar to gunbound where u can buy extras and stuff ^^

of course it has the usual like quests and trading and guilds

oh and it has a duelin arena and pk server (where u can kill other players)

the GMs in-game r fun altho one certain GM can be annoyin spawnin boss monsters in the middle of the city haha ~

but anyways its not an easy game to lvl in. it took me months to get to 75 U_U ~

o wells have fun ^_________________^V

i highly recommend this game to anyone young old boy or girl ~

here is a screenshot of my character back in my earlier days with some other players dressed in their detailed armor ~ as u can see some ppl wear the special clothes from cash shop and can dress up their players in any cute way they want =D im wearin a pink chinese dress!!! woot and if u look closely theres a girl on a board swooping down to the fightin arena ^____^

if you think a golf MMO is something to try ... there's Pangya (or its American equivalent Albatross18 - but its lagging in the new fluff and characters). A Korean golf MMO .... your scores help you win cool outfits or unlock the spiffier characters...

Worship the Kooh ....

I downloaded that today to try out. I have to say, it's better than I was expecting.

A few years ago I was playing another korean mmorpg, Pristontale. It was open beta at the time, and thus free. I stayed with it a while after it went pay, but they never seemed to deliver the promised server upgrades. Disconnects were extremely common... Plus, most of my friends, both rl and online, moved on, so I quit playing. Don't know how it is now though. I had a level 60something priestess. DL FTW!

Thewanderer 2006-08-20 23:38

I DL'd Flyff and tried it out... I like it so far. Thanks.

I got to lv7 in around an hour. Sold a few apparently rare items for around 6-7k, which bought me some 1337 armor... I hope it helps speed up the leveling process.

I actually tried Pristontale a couple years back. Didn't like it much. I'm guessing it's still the same...

I played this MMORPG before. It's still strictly Japanese P2P only, but it got licensced for the Korean market as of late. Their next move will be for a Southeast Asian beta.

The game? Emil Chronicle Online - or ECOnline for short.

How does the game look? Click on the spoiler and find out. I'm doing this to save bandwidth. XD

Yes, those are all my characters. I played briefly during the time that it was still in Beta and was free.

If you're looking for a cutesy animeish MMO, look no further. Only set back is that, we have to wait for a long time until it hits an English version. ;__;

If anyone wants more info on the game, I can go all-out and provide in-depth details.

It definitely meets my cuteness requirements, but again, no thanks... I don't know enough Japanese.

FLYFF doesn't seem to like my video card or firewall. I ain't shutting off the firewall just for a game.
I have a couple of friends who are Maple Story addicts. I'm sure many peopel have heard of it. It's free to play but they have their own little gimmicks for paying players (pets, items, customization, etc.).
The only game that comes to mind is Ragnarok. I remember playing it in the alpha stages then going through the beta up until it became pay to play. It's nice, but I don't exactly have the cash for an MMO like that at the moment.

I like this thread, post more suggestions!

You do know images in spoiler tags are loaded by everyone regardless, right? >.> The blonde one with the skirt wins, though. I'd probably give it a try if it got a free English release.

I'm almost tempted to try FLYFF now though. Been an RO player for ages even after it went pay-to-play and enjoyed it a lot, but after a while it does get a bit tiresome, especially when people stop playing. Better make the most of it though, as RO2 looks terrible...

I was thinking space, then, because having the images take up that much space when unspoilered is horrible. XD

Ailysse (the blond girl in the skirt) wins, though. She was Level 38 (the highest level during that time when she was still around was 40 XD) and I had a lot of fun playing as her, especially seeing her float around and stuff.

I dunno about this now. I'm too addicted. I have 9 characters between the levels of 5 and 10. I login every second I'm not spending with my GF or asleep... HEEEEEEELP!!!:eyespin:

Okay seriously, Flyff is great. Not so much in the character clothing part so far(as I've seen... there's not that much of a veriety for any given level), but the face/hair customizing is nice.

And wow, newbs can get money easily. Just pick up some items from low-level monsters(such as Twinkle Stones) and higher-levels will pay a lot for them(highest someone bought a batch of them from me for was 50k a piece). Bad part is: not much of a verity to buy with the money:(

Well, although the game doesn't fit the anime-cutsy requirement, the quoted part is definitly part of this game. Silkroad online. How huge is huge? Well...taking the shortest path possible, it will still take about 10-15minutes to travel by foot from the first town to the next, and probably 30mins+ just to completely cover the first area.

The game doesn't have any form of "class" system, and is very much solo-gameplay oriented in nature due to the lack of support character skills. Also, the current level cap is 70, hence there isn't really any "uber high level" people, since a significant portion of the players are already near or at that level. There are, however, 3 "jobs" that players can take: Trader, Theif, and Hunter.

Spoiler:

Warning though, the game is pretty much filled with a**holes, ksers, and botters (although only at certain areas), so unless you have a relatively high tolerance for such nonesense, I won't recommand you trying this game (Flyff is definitely better in terms of the community).

Items like twinkle stones are needed for some job change quests. That's why they go for so much. Though I just unload them for about 1.5k. Let someone more patient try to get more. :heh: If I sell out in 30 seconds, more time to play. ;) I have two characters one level 16, the other 14, both on the first server.

I've watched one of my friends play it for a couple months. It has some of the things I'm looking for, but the cons outweigh the pros, IMO.

Yikes, is there any list of requirement quests to get a job so as to plan ahead of time? I've been searching(or lurking, rather) on their message board for quests involving those items... nothing found yet.

And all 9 of my current characters are on Lawolf, Aibatt, and Mushpoie(saving 3 slots in one server just in case). As I recall, the first server is Mia... you have any low-level characters in the other 3 servers?

MarcusG 2006-08-22 10:39

The is a 3d cel shaded mmorpg That looks like true fantasy online but its in japanese and I cant remember the name of it. Does anyone in these forums know what the name of this game is?
