Not sure what is going on, but I'm pretty sure that scene of Alicia becoming like Selveria with a shield and lance and the destruction of those poor tanks is a big spoiler... (-_-)

Not surprised. The upper management in charge of this show just leaves me shaking my head anyway.

Whoa... new OP with a whole lot of goodness that gets the mind wondering... New ED depressing.

Episode over-all was ok. Welkins has completely lost his witty sparkle. Where on a battlefield is their time to think about or perform a romantic scene.. shesh!

The OP had a lot more action than the other episodes so far.

So....can we expect more action to happen now?

Hahahaha... haaa... you know who I feel most sorry for? The original scrubs who wrote the VC story for the game and are now likely sitting with their faces in their hands sobbing themselves to sleep thanks to the new OP.

Edit: Now that I think about it, the anime must have hired as animators the same idiots that put all those spoilers into the game's extended opening.

People, to be fair, the OP for the GAME spoiled that surprise too. It just wasn't as subtle. Besides, if you watched the first episode...

Personally, I liked the action of the new OP. Shows just what the animation company is capable of.

But enough about that. Now on to the actual episode:

If you were afraid there wasn't going to be much war-like action in the series, this episode is a good cure. There is a LOT of combat.
Well, that was... something. Rosie almost gets Zaka killed by not following his lead. Still, he manages to be a badass by throwing a knife right into an Imp's throat. Score one for the Darcsen.
Rosie gets a figurative slap to the face when she sees the Darcsen quarters of the camp. It's not Holocaust-bad, but it's close.
Gregor figures out pretty quickly that the Darcsen Resistance is getting help from the Gallian Army. And he's content to allow his train to kill hundreds of civilians and his own troops to defend Fouzen. Talk about dedication.
WOOT, ISARA! Tank-jack!
That Faldio-saves-Alicia bit was a little corny, but it served its purpose. Still, I wonder why a tank crewmember would have a sniper rifle in his possession...
Wait for it, Zaka... Wait for it... NOW! *blam* What the? The hole's too small? Dammit! And here I thought the charges were gonna be duds. That was a pleasant surprise. At least they did some damage to the Equus, but they got Gregor pissed off, so he turned Equus' cannon on the Darcsens.
Welkin is hesitant about continuing the fight when Gregor threatens the Darcsen prisoners, but eventually Alicia and Faldio prod him into continuing, knowing Gregor would likely shoot anyways. The General does just that.
Rosie pretty much snaps when the Darcsens are massacred. Zaka has to keep her from making a suicide run on the Equus, which is destroyed shortly afterward by Isara and Ramal. Gregor goes down with the ship, in a manner of speaking, saying something nasty about the Darcsens as he dies. He literally goes out with a BANG.
Now you people get to see why Rosie hated Darcsens.

Spoiler for Rosie's Trauma:

When Rosie was a child, she lived in a village largely populated by Darcsens. An Imperial party came to the village and massacred the people, including Rosie's family as the child watched. Since the attack was primarily aimed at killing the Darcsens, Rosie blamed them for her family's death, thinking "if they hadn't been there, my family wouldn't have died".

This was a GREAT episode. Lots of development to Rosie's character, and showing the consequences of having to make tough decisions in war. This showed the war's ugly side magnificently.

It's also good that they inserted a new ED sequence, because the old one would've just ruined the mood. Although... this didn't entirely work with the ending of the episode. Still, this new ED sequence is pretty nice, centering around the Sevens in a montage. Seeing the girls in swimsuits was a bonus.:D

I wonder. Did Yasuomi Umetsu directed the new OP sequence? The character designs there seriously reminded me something out of Kite.

Okay despite the stupidity of the new OP, I really liked this episode. I had been on a streak of disliking many of the past episodes until last weeks, which recaptured my interest. Now this episode just skyrocketed my enjoyment up again.

Everything for the most part was done well (especially in the "brutality of war" department). This epsiode also had a very gripping end.
