But it leaves these scratch like marks on it. Can someone please explain how I should set up the marker and use it properly.

clicking?? You just have to push the tip in and the paint should blend with the tip. you sound like your tip is still dry and have brush marks

The Destiny special edition doesn't sound impressive to me. I'm pretty sure the hand cannon effect parts are just blue transparent hand parts. But I want to know how its wings of light look like though

Sadly, no matter how I look at it the MG doesn't seem to be that much better than my 1/100. I always thought the Destiny was too plain, with no enough details on the body. Only if the special edition has truly impressive WoL, Palma Falciona, and a larger lightwave shield I'll consider buying it.
I would strongly prefer a MG Justice.

Gundam wing figurine

Hey there everyone, I'm new to the forums, but I hope this isn't completely off topic, or if there is a better section in which I could have posted this, if there is, than feel free to move it around moderators:). Anyway lets get to the topic.

I recently bought a PG Gundam Wing Zero pearl mirror coated version. Cost me 350$ with all the transportation and custom fees. Well it's my first figurine and the one thing I don't want to do is mess it up :), at this price I really don't want to have to buy another one. So I've been asking around and found someone who is experienced in making figurines, but I am troubled to know that having it made won't be as satisfying than making it myself, so I am thinking of making it myself.

I've mentionned earlier that it's my first figurine and have been told that perfect grade was quite a bit out of my league and I understand. So I am going to order a MG wing zero custom (or two...) and practice on them for a bit.

I do not have any tools for making or crafting figurines. If anyone of you has ever made a PG or MG zero wing custom, can you please tell me what tools I need to build them ad how much they usually cost?
I would also like to know if the MG zero wing has to be painted or is it allready painted like my PG zero custom?

Since we are on this topic, if any of you have made such figurines, feel free to post links to your pictures or post them on this thread, I'de love to see the different models and know what other figurines I could add to my collection.

Thank you for your time.

Gundam models differ from traditional models in that all the parts come molded in their proper colors (for the most part), so casual modelers aren't forced into painting, and glueing is not required. The only difficulty here is making sure you follow the diagrams EXACTLY, but anyone can do this if they pay attention.

However, many more experienced modelers use many tools and techniques. The most basic technique is called panel-lining, in which you use a very fine ink pen or brush to darken the depression lines that cover most gundams. Just look at a picture on the box and you should see what I'm talking about. Then comes sanding, which will remove those nasty compression marks where the part was cut from the tree, after which you paint over the entire part, preferably via spraying. Or, if you are a perfectionist, use modeling putty to seal the seams between parts, sand it smooth, and then paint. Finally, spray a topcoat over the whole thing, which makes it scratch resistant.

You bought the pearl version PG WZC? Good luck to you with that kit. The 'pearl' portions are nothing like you've ever done before especially since you have you experience with modelling (the broad term, not gundam specific).

Van - Halo - Tupac 2007-08-24 21:00

Truly, I don't get the depression line thing :S, I'm sorry, really new to this.

But thanks for the info.

Do you think I should buy a cutting tool and a screwing tool? And where can I get a thing ink pen? Are they specially made for modeling or are they simple very thin pens?

I'm sorry for all the questions, but tonight i'm ordering mg wing zero and mg strike, to practice on. They are level 2. My pg wing zero is a level 4 :S.

To the person above? Do you have a pearl mirror coated zero or have you seen one? How hard is it? And what should I be expecting?

thanks Lowe for those pics T__T

I'm as excited as you! can't wait to see what pro modellers can do with it.

Looks great...going to get Gundam Exia

wavehawk 2007-08-25 04:29

I am SO going to build an army of TieRens. They're probably my favorite grunt mecha ever in a Gundam series (narrowly beating out the GMs). Seriously, they have this look about them that reminds you a bit of tanks and the old Zaku, but unlike the Ginns and Zaku Warriors in Seed, they don't look like Zakus. I guess the whole "realistic" feel is the main reason I'm getting these.

BTW, is it just me, or can you guys picture something like the TieRen turning up on the Red China side in a Command and Conquer Generals sequel? >)

Akyra 2007-08-26 02:36

I wish they'll make those grunts in 1/100 or 1/60 (think I've read somewhere they'll produce the 4 main gundams in 1/60?).

If the WoL turns out to be great, I think I might get the MG Destiny too. The 1/100 version just suck with posing...even with the First Run "action parts":uhoh:

LightningZERO 2007-08-26 06:12

I'm pretty pleased with 1/100 Destiny Gundam....in appearance, the MG doesn't have much differences with it, so maybe I will pass this one

The standard 1/100 looks just like the chunky lineart, while the master grade retools everything to a more sensible shape.

Seriously, I want the pre-orders for Destiny to be opened already. AHH!
I must have the Special Edition version.

I'm actually quite hyped for this model. Perhaps even more hyped than I was for the Strike Freedom, which ended up disappointing (for me that is) since I ruined the wings and some looseness occurred.
