Nobuhiro Watsuki, creator of the hit manga Rurouni Kenshin, has been charged with possession of child pornography.

According to the Yomiuri Shimbun, investigators discovered several DVDs that showed nude under-15 year-old girls at Watsuki’s Tokyo office. Similar DVDs were also reportedly found at his house.

Yomiuri Shimbun adds that during another child pornography case, suspicions that Watsuki had purchased illicit DVDs featuring underage girls surfaced.

Watsuki is quoted as telling authorities, “I liked girls from the upper grades of elementary school to around the second year of junior high school.”

He does not seem to fit a profile of a pedophile
he was married, and none of his works were leaning THAT way
but maybe that's how real pedophiles act
don't do anything that draws attention to your deviancy

I'm just sad that this happened just as RK was getting continuation

and I'm also sad because it's not Yamakan, who is a total creeper and probably
deserved it more

On the other hand, I'm glad that this happened after the live-action movie trilogy finished their released and reaping their success. Things could've gone terribly wrong if this happened back during the production.

I'm never that big on continuing the story of the manga anyway. Not hating it, just feel indifferent about it.

Yeah it turns out that people don't walk around with giant signs over their head telling everyone their darkest secrets.

Funny you should mention him...

(Basically he's saying "Looks like I might be in trouble")

Archon_Wing 2017-11-22 00:44

And he brought that shit to work.

Yeesh.

Also why is Yamakan a thing? So he's a guy that did the Haruhi dance and founded a studio and then? Why do people care though?

Yamakan has gotten a reputation of having a big ego where he said things like "he can save anime" and other crazy stuff.

Here goes every hopes to get and see Jinchuu arc animated, ever. It's kind of sad to see him go on that note after seeing him still struggling to live up to his greatest work.

On the comment about Yamakan:

I can understand that his "save anime" and attitude have rubbed people the wrong way, but stating that you'd have preferred Watsuki's skeleton be hidden in Yamakan's closet rather than the mangaka's? Wow stay classy.

EDIT

This is where I suggest people to read how Jeffrey Dahmer and John Wayne Gacy managed to fool everyone.

Yea I think that is quite a stretch.

This. Same thing happened with Jared the spokesperson for that sandwich place. He also had a wife and kids.

No, Yamakan is infamous for sexual harassment, and it's a shame he didn't get nabbed first.

Sauce for it?

He's sadly never been convicted, but he's a total creeper and has made several comments on twitter admitting to that. Most recently about his misconduct towards a WUG voice actress

That tweet simply is a reaction to the Kenshin guy's arrest. (I mean I don't even care about the guy but it's not an openly self-incriminating tweet)

Mad Pierrot 2018-02-27 10:59

Update: The Tokyo Public Prosecutors Office filed a summary indictment against 47-year-old manga creator Nobuhiro Watsuki (real name Nobuhiro Nishiwaki) for simple possession of child pornography on Tuesday. On the same day, the Tokyo Summary Court ordered Watsuki to pay a fine of 200,000 yen (about US$1,900).

Now I wonder he'll be able to continue working like one of his old assistant could.

Archon_Wing 2018-02-27 18:18

$1900?

So basically a slap on the wrist?

It'll probably blow over. Maybe he won't be such a dumb fuck next time.

bakato 2018-02-27 20:57

So case closed and back to drawing?

Marcus H. 2018-02-27 21:49

I couldn't care a bit about what happened to Watsuki. The Japanese legal system has decided that Watsuki's offense doesn't even warrant the maximum fine, and nobody can complain about that because their country's legal system is just different compared to Japan's.

The verdict is done.

Toukairin 2018-02-27 23:48

Even if he got away with almost nothing by order of the court, I wouldn't be surprised if Watsuki's bosses end up dropping him for the sake of the company's public image.

Still, what he did already sealed his fate as a dirty, sick, dumb, and fucked-up human being.

Marcus H. 2018-02-28 00:01

That didn't really ruin Mitsutoshi Shimabukuro (Toriko mangaka), even his offense is much worse in comparison (child prostitution).
